Hi everyone,

Life is kicking my bum this week!
I just wish it'd take a bit o'my bum along with it as it goes.... *oy, vey*

Quick update - had a blast at the Nursing Home last Saturday... the elders were as much fun to paint as the kids! I have only a couple of pics because I was SWAMPED!

Kept getting compliments.... I adored them.. *g*
The most loved quote, "I thought that face painting was a splash of paint on your cheek. She's an artist!" I'm mostly a "copy-ist" at this point, but, hey... I wasn't going to argue with them!
sheesh... (delete-delete)
I almost started a 'kat-ramble'... no time! I've got a gazillion things to do before being able to fall into bed tonight!
I will say that I figured out that I can view my past posts by going through the profile room.
Doh!!!
I have a few that I want to respond to.. my apologies for the delay. Once they're off the search list, I sometimes forget where I've posted them from! just imagine how crazy it is when I put my keys down!!!

Snazaroo - it's only taken me five minutes to get to the topic - *LOL*

I've read on/off that many prefer it to anything else for bases for kids.
I'm about to widen my face-painting horizons (meaning that I'm trying more and more 1/2 and full face masks) and want to use the best product for children as is possible.
I worry about staining their skin - mostly. I want repeat customers!! *G*
Not people that snarl as they pass by my booth saying, "my son's face was green for a WEEK after SHE (said scathingly) got through with him".

So - I'm thinking about certain colors for certain faces, and would like some recommendations from you fine folk!

Red - seems to be a must for Spiderman/etc.
Pink/Purple - girl stuff
Green - Is there a green that isn't going to make me have nightmares? *L*
I was going to get Paradise white for a white base... I bought Paradise light pink the other day.... lemme just say, there's nothing LIGHT about it! Hence the pink. (above)

Anything else?
Sparkles? - What's the difference between Sparkle and Electric?

I don't want to buy the farm (the whole collection), just a few sheep (colors)....
as I've already gone through a goodly portion of DFX, TAG and have started on Paradise.
And here it is, just ending my third month! twitch
someone, please take my PayPal account away from me!!!! I'm KIDDING!
it'd be like stepping between me and chocolate... if you know what's good for ya'..... *hah*

I must run... you-know-who has that cocked brow thing going and is tapping his wrist-watch.

A HUGE thank you in advance for any advice/recommendations.
I promise to read/respond to all that I can this weekend!

oh... I'm going to set a booth up in our itty-bitty downtown area Friday afternoon for the monthly car show (cruise in) to see how it goes. Wish me luck!
I'll have to wear galoshes, it's supposed to rain... eep!

I use entirely snaz so..... One of each lol

Seriously though, think about what faces you want to do but are afraid to do with your current paints. Yes, even snaz green can stain, but it usually comes off if they wash, moisturize for 5, wash again. My daughter had a little in her hairline for a day or two after being a dinosaur all day.

Perry, you're a hoot!

I've decided that it's most economical to go with a palette (the 8 palette).... basic colors... and see how that works.

Thanks for responding!

Update - it pays to feign ignorance when your spouse tries to teach you how to use the mower. (you know the kind that will turn on a dime.. with the arms in front of you .... er.... whatever....)

Not that there was much 'feigning'... truth be known. Shocked
I think that he thought that a trade was in order because he helps me with the set-up of the tent 'n such. I'm ... ah... gently disabusing him of that notion... *heh*

So - while I was sipping on my tea I ran across the pallet of Snazaroo paints.. problem solved!!!
For the regular colors, at least.

Gee, reading back I feel as if I need to hire a "Face Paint Forum" navigator to lead me through the site, showing me what's what!
chuckling

Why is there a "sent" box, and an "out" box in mail?
And, I see that I overlooked some mail! Embarassed
(I shall attend to that posthaste)

Why I've been away... other than to read (mostly) on the iTouch....
Grandmother is worsening. Neurological disease/plus other things are running their course.
This means that when the sitter isn't there, I try to cover the time between my son's bedtime and my bedtime. (which includes a 45 minute drive each way)
I'm substituting a lot. Yea for me!
And then, on the days that I don't sub, I paint scenery for the play... then, try to play mother/wife/everything else in between. smile ... is this too much information?
This circle of life thing - has some rough spots, eh? scratch

Anyway... let's see if I can pull up a couple of images from the nursing home.
a sleeping baby -

(I wouldn't normally do them... but.... but..... erm)

a group image -
the girls in front had been outside for the egg hunt - caught in the rain shower.. not a good picture... oh well.. they had fun!

Blanche - a firecracker of a woman. *grin*

Edith - a sweetheart.... she talks almost as much as I do... *L*

It was a quick and dirty event - face painting-wise... for me, anyway... but, everyone seemed pleased.. and in the end, even for the perfectionist in me, I was too!
there were a group of teenagers that all wanted various tribal art.... eeek!
Tribal is harder than I thought! *L*

The colours I use up fastest are all snaz b/c I use primarily for bases ( some paradise for bases but usually DFX, tag, wolfe just for details and rainbow cakes) I use up white and black fastest followed by red then sparkle red, sparkle teal, sparkle pink, sparkle yellow(or gold-not much difference for me), sparkle green, then sparkle orange. I use very little blue, green and yellow which is why the jumbo palette doesn't make sense for me. I did make a lovely split cake when I first got the jumbo and loved it. I just got the sparkle lilac and the electric blue and I love them both. I love snaz!

Snaz colors that I use the most in my kit are:

White (for bases)
Bright Red
Lime Green
Turquoise
Bright Pink (for darker skin)
Light Pink (for very fair skin)
Purple
Lilac

I don't use any sparkle colors as I find them very translucent. I used to keep a black for full face black stuff like batman, but finally ditched it because I never used it for anything else, and I needed the space. Haven't missed it since.

I adore sparkle pink for eye shadow/blush! It is a very soft colour, which is perfect, IMO for makeup (I have used it for a belly base and it was lovely and pretty solid).

I also use:

White (Tigers, bunnies)
Bright Red (Spidey)
Orange
Dark Orange (I could get by with one or the other - I don't need two, and don't have much of a preference...but would probably do dark orange to split with yellow for a greater contrast for hibiscus)
Pale Yellow (Meh...I don't use a lot of yellow)
Grass Green (Not my fave shade of green, but it works well for dragons/dinos and washes off fairly easily I think)
Turquoise (split with:)
Sky Blue (Avatar stripes, blue split eye designs)
Purple (Is a bit dark but a nice outlining colour when split with:)
Bright pink

I don't like the light grey much but it's there so I'm using it. I'm getting the hang of line work with Snaz black!

Just got a bunch of sparkles and want to make rainbows - I'll see how they go!
