I made it into a local magazine....

OMG I am so stoked. I actually made it into a local magazine. I totally sound like a dork in the article. But, hey any publicity is good publicity.

Congrats! That's really cool. And no, you don't sound like a dork. =)
Re: I made it into a local magazine....
That is really super awesome. I've noticed that every newspaper and news station likes to feature pictures of face painted kids from the different events that I've been part of, but they never mention the buisness that painted them! I don't think you sounded like a dork at all either. You sounded enthusiastic about your job- which is exactly what people want in a face painter! Did you do a phone interview, or did you have time to think about points you wanted to make? There is no way I could have been that articulate if I were put on the spot. Talk about a dork on the phone- that's me!
Re: I made it into a local magazine....
haha....thanks all. I had a ton of time to think about what I was saying. It was an e-mail interview.
I was contacted about 2 months ago about an article for home based businesses. The guy asked for several pictures of my office space and where I work in the house. I am not too happy with the picture he choose. Not my better design or detailed but, I guess he liked it b/c of the brushes and open paints. So, I never heard back from him until this afternoon. I received an e-mail of a pre release of the magazine on-line. I seen the heading about at home businesses and almost wet my pants. I actually crossed my finger and kept saying "please, please, please." And there it was. hehe
I ran out of my office and started yelling to the guys I work with and they read the article and congratulated me. (BTW - during the week I am an accountant for a local building supply store.) I really hope that one day soon I can make face painting a full time job. But, the winter months here are long and really slow for me.

This is the link to the split cake:

I transferred it to a TAG cake b/c the TAG cake case is lower and loads move evenly.
They have a lot of amazing split cakses.
Kind of expensive, but they last forever.

I'm very happy for you Kim! The editor of that magazine hates me... don't know why, I saw her at four or five events and she always avoided me like the plague. Then there was some nasty emails back and forth when I had a complaint about something last year and she was just evil and threatening to me when I was only contacting her as a reader with a complaint.
Re: I made it into a local magazine....
I do remember that.
I am happy that they are finally getting local businesses in the magazine. Maybe you put a bug in her year.
I am super excited. My business has been so slow these last 3 months. I was actually getting depressed about it. Hopefully people see the article and call me. Then I can pass along the weekday jobs to you. hehe
