My First Magazine Empty My First Magazine

Post by Magic Mon Aug 30, 2010 9:56 pm

So I did my first shoot for a National Magazine -Woman's Day-and it hit the newsstands today- I could have never imagined 2 years ago where I would be going with this painting thing I fell in love with. Tomorrow I am working on an independent film and I am being contacted by models and photographers about my body painting -people are asking me to paint them. It's been a weird week emotionally -my cat died yesterday and my friend received a donor heart. Life is changing quickly but I am so excited and watching Linda receive a new heart it renews my belief that any thing is possible. You guys are an awesome group very supportive and caring what a great community. So I wanted to share this with you! The assignment was to do simple faces a mom can do - boy did I have to hold back.lol

First off, I am so sorry about your cat. Losing a pet is tough.

Second, I think it is awesome that your friend got a donor heart. I wrote a research paper about organ donation my freshmen year of college and got to know a lot of the ins and outs of the process. She is very lucky to have gotten her heart. Congratulate her for me.

Finally, saving the best for last, congratulations to you. Your work looks awesome, and if I can find that magazine I am totally going to buy it. My sister and I and some of our friends are all dressing up as characters from Alice in Wonderland for Halloween, so it will probably come in handy.

Great job! So happy things are going well for you.

Thanks! Just such a mixed bag of emotions this week. It was hard to do work that didn't represent the best I could do but to stay in the parameters they gave me. I am so grateful a match was found for her it's been some year.

I can imagine what a jumble of emotions you must be feeling. Sorry and congratulations in one sentence!!

Did they do the costumes and you just needed to do the makeup or did you do everything? Great job by the way. I have done our local ballet a few times and it is hard to simplify designs so that they look good off stage. Up close sometimes it looks terrible, yet out in the audience it looks great. You loose a lot of details, etc.... so I understand what you went through trying to make it look good yet simplify it etc.

I think a lot of people think what we do is simple and that they can just copy it and get the same results that we get. I had a lady ask me for a price and then did the face painting herself and I just happened to see a few of them wandering through walmart...... poor kids Wink

Thanks! They sent me a list of models a few days before - they had all the costumes. It was a long day they kids were not professional models - very hard to keep them focused long enough to paint them.
I do Snazaroo demos at a local art store - I have to keep it simple but nice enough to maybe book work out of there. I'm doing a Halloween class with them going to use this kind of stuff very simple.

Magic...I can only say I'm sorry about your cat..I have a little one myself , and I can't imagine how will be not having her around, she is my everything.
Your friend is very lucky..she was given a second chance in life. Is so hard to get people to donate organs, I believe is matter of educate them about it and get rid of miths.
Your magazine looks awesome..I love the Cheschire cat...!! Where can we see the magazine?
