Fantasy World Wide sponges
I know this topic has been discussed before on the forum. As I have researched & gone back & read the thread. I would really love to buy some of these sponges. Does anyone know if someone in Australia sells them? Tash mentioned that alwayswickedart does but when I looked at her site I was in doubt that they are actually FWW sponges. Thanks all.
Re: Fantasy World Wide sponges
Nope I think they are the only ones, that I know if... You could always ask her how much they charge to ship to you

Re: Fantasy World Wide sponges
I know how expensive sponges are... and on my budget, I really can't afford oodles of special sponges like that. Instead, I get those big peanut sponges that you use to wash your car with that cost around $1. Once they are cut up, I can get 12 half circle sponges out of one peanut sponge. They feel fine agianst the skin and work great. They are a tad stiffer than tack sponges though, so I just use fabric softener when I wash them in the clothes washer in a mesh delicates bag.
Yes, it takes a little bit of time and patience to cut up the sponges, but it's well worth it! Let's break it down...
Car Wash Peanut Sponge (cut)= 12 sponges for $1
Tack/Fantasy/any round sponge (cut) = 2 sponges for $1.50 - $3.
On an average day, I'll go through about 40-50 sponges
cost in peanut sponges = about $4 for 48 sponges.
cost in tack/fantasy/any round sponges = anywhere from $30 to $60 just for 40 sponges... meaning I could run out.

Sponges are sponges... just buy the cheapest ones you find, try them, if they don't suit, buy a different cheap one... you will find something suitable without paying $1-3 per sponge... honestly! Car wash sponges, tack sponges, packing foam...

Re: Fantasy World Wide sponges
Big scissors... serrated carving knife... lino knife... electric knife.
Some people put the sponge in the freezer before trying to cut it. I just squeeze it flat and stretch it out between my fingers in one hand then cut with sharp scissors.
They don't have to be completely even or even shaped the same to work.

Thanks all for the input. I shall sit back & consider all the comments made, I appreciate it.
Re: Fantasy World Wide sponges
You need not buy from Mehron direct. Mehron does have many dealers in Australia I can send you a list is you like. Off the top of my head in the face painting community Amy Grigg and Ria Clauss. Too like Metina notes you can get international shipping.
The *new egg shaped beauty blender knockoff) Blender is not made for face painting and you will not get good results.
It is very dense, a synthetic latex made to soak up the oils in foundations and creams. If you are doing beauty makeup it is great - but not so good for face painting and it will not pick the paint up onto the sponge.

The fantasy sponges load up better make awesome strokes and feel nice when being painted. i think they are worth every penny.
Re: Fantasy World Wide sponges
thanks for the info everyone! I am thinking about heading to "wally world" and see what kind of sponges they have in the automotive section!
You are all a wealth of information!

Re: Fantasy World Wide sponges
I bought 2 six pack round sponges from michaels and cut 4 into quarter sizes and the rest in half. I have quite a few extra. Thats what was easiest for me on a budget.
