I have two uniforms. 1.I wear a tie dye shirt with my business name on the back in bold letters and black apron, 2. A black shirt and a tie dye apron with my business name on the front of it, and then decent jeans/shorts and shoes fit for the weather. Depending on the theme, I always paint my face to match and I have a whole box full of earings, pins, hair clips, bandanas, (I always have my hair pulled back out of my face.) and such for all the different occasions.

I have a lot of different costumes. A bit down this site is some old pictures. http://lone-wolf.dk/ansigtsmaling.html. Since they was made most of them have been redone, so need new pictures. But most times people don't want costumes, just regular clothing. But my normal clothing is still a bit special, since I love costumes! I also have some t-shirts with company name and homepage on. I made the "print" myself with skin glue and glitter. Like making glitter tattoos. Can last even if you wash it! (not many times, but easy to refresh, and really good eye catcher).

What do you wear to a gig? - Page 2 Empty Re: What do you wear to a gig?

I've worn a jean jumper over a nice 'women's' style tee, and just jeans and t-shirt.

I think I wore a skirt and nice button down shirt to a Guild Jam...

Nothing 'official' but now I want to make a business 'golfer's shirt' with the glitter idea! Probably black bottoms/slacks/long skirt with sandals or shoes depending.

Comfort!! When Kathy and I go to the local Renaissance Fair we usually dress as fairies, pirates, or wenches..ok, I'm usually the wench and Kathy is a proper lady..hehe! She makes an incredible 'Shaman Faye!'

I've dressed up as Xena before and got lots of discounts...erm..but that's a long story and probably not one for the forums!

I want to make a LOTR Arowen and Arwen set of dresses....have the fabric and patterns...just need time! I am way behind on my sewing. I need to make about 6 'corsets' (the nice outer wearing kind) for friends and family! So maybe I'll sew up something more entertaining for the little kids parties...not quite clown, but colorful and comfy!

I think I'll settle for a sparkly glitter top (with business logo) and maybe some 'tie' pants with a sparkly edge! Sorta gypsy looking....

What do you wear to a gig? - Page 2 Empty what to wear

Post by Jean-Marie Wed Apr 01, 2009 7:57 am

hello Capt Savvy,
I absolutely wear different outfits (depending the event) -- for non-specific events, I have polo shirts ( i got them at WalMart for $7.00) & had my business name put on the shirt at a local t-shirt shop. I have different outfits for different events -- a pirate outfit for little boys pirate parties, a renaissance outfit for little girls princess parties, a clown outfit fot school/church picnics, a 'cars/motorcycle' outfit for local car shows, etc. Everything i wear is pretty basic (i make my outfits), & has to be comfortable, & wash/dry. i also wear comfortable shoes.

Hope this helps,
jean-marie

heh!
Afraid I am nearly ALWAYS a fairy for piublic bokkings/ parties. Helps them spot you in a crowd, wings give me some breathing space and also means I am not spotted so easily when out of uniform. Plus I make & sell wings so is a good advert! Sadly I keep keeping wings I like so have a range with costumes to match...

Started as when i began painting I was still running a nature reserve where I had 2 schools a day, and kids recognised me from painting at events and started turning up at my door out of school to see ';if i wanted to paint them').

All my tops have at least 'face painter' or face painting fairy' on them, some with my wwww too for when i am working for myself and not hired. I get them laser-cut by computer and heat pressed on as it lasts for years, looks neat and clean and comes in all colours and even glittery...

Plus i LOVE dressing up. Have made hair falls etc too...oh dear, addicted.

Oh don't!!
Its got so I almost don't want to get a wing order as I KNOW I'll make myself another pair too....
OK hang on will go find some wing/ wig pics. I LOVE my wigs but its usually too hot to wear them in Hk. My faves are a blue-green cropped wig and a long red-black gothy curled end one. Yum. Need to wear them more as a lot of my hair fell pout when I was breastfeeding and has yet to grow back. Hmm, great excuse...
