About tips
Okay, I have this funny story to share. I just REALLY LOVE getting tips. I mean I don't care if I just got paid $10 to do design and they give me $2 or $3 tip I am seriously in heaven. It just says to me, hey you are worth that and more! So, this Valentine's I was working and I had two face painters to bring their kids to me, and they tipped me $5 each. I was so honored for the flattery of the tip from peers. I actually did quite well with tips in general. I don't set out a jar so, it is a big deal to me to get a tip. I didn't even know either of them. They came separately to my table. It was great meeting them though.
So how do you feel about tips? DO you get as googly as I do? LOL! I have a contest with my hubby to see who can earn the most tips.

LOVE tips for the same reason as you!
One thing I have noticed... when I have a tip jar out I get LESS tips that if I don't. TRULY.

Re: About tips
A big tip is what made me think of actually becoming a professional face painter! Yep, it's sooooo heartening. I'm even flattered when they come back to ME instead of the other cut-rate face painters at a fair.
Re: About tips
The best tip EVER was when a dad ran after my car when I'd just pulled out of the driveway and handed me two twenties! I was shocked because they'd paid for the party in advance and I'd spent an extra 15 minutes just saying goodbye to the kids and talking to the parents that had arrived to pick up their kids. I think his wife might have set him on me , lol... I know my husband wouldn't have chased anybody down in order to give them money! Fortunately, I'd only gotten as far as the next house in the development!
I agree, at first I felt sheepish about taking tips, but now I just accept the good feelings they afford me, lol.

I LOVE tips!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is one of the main reasons I use to love waitressing. It is so wierd but I love always having cash on me. The biggest tip I received was $15 for a party. I was so excited.
When I do put out a tip jar, I get overly giddy when I hear the sound of the money jingling in there. hehe
In Canada our $1 and $2 are coins as well. So, not may bills. Usually all change.

Oh once at a festival I painted a little girl as a butterfly $5.
She was so excited when she looked in the mirrior her dad gave me a $20 and told me to keep the change. Yippee.
So, of course I added the fairy wings and glow in the dark wand. Usually a $15 package at festivals.

Re: About tips
Aussies aren't big on tipping in general. I have had a few people give me $5 extra and it makes me feel really good, and every time I do a gig where I get paid per hour someone will offer money, but I don't take it because I wouldn't feel right explaining to the event organiser why I was taking cash when they are paying me.

I love tips!
Years ago I used to deliver food for a company that contracted out to local restaurants. I took food to various hotels. It was Christmas Eve & the guy at the hotel gave me a $100 tip & he wasn't even drunk!
I believe in tipping & have always been a good tipper. My dad instilled in me that you should always tip well & let the people serving you know you appreciate them.

Re: About tips
I get more tips at parties than doing ppf. I was tipped $30 at each of my past two parties. The largest ppf tip that I got was $12 from a drunk guy because he did not want to wait around for change.
Tips are great, though. I am starting to save mine up so that I can invest in a bigger kit.

Re: About tips
Lucky for you, in my part of the world people grumble about feeling like they have to tip waitresses(though especially for horrible service) and people don't really tip anyone else.
