PPF event paint list Empty PPF event paint list

Post by AllieDawn Sat Feb 12, 2011 3:02 pm

I will be doing a PPF event next weekend and I am needing to put together a picture board. Faces will be $4 & $8. Can y'all help me put together of a list of , I'm guessing, 5-8 items for each category and for each side (boy and girl side)
I've got a decent list for girls but boys are harder.
Girls-$4
Simple mask
Half butterfly
Flowers

$8
Full faces: cheetah, tigers, blah blah
Fuller masks

Boys $4-
Spiderman?(easy) or should it be $8?
Batman mask is easy
Cheek/arm skull
Power ranger mask

These are just some of the ones I can think of right away. What do u all have on your lists??

$8-
Full face skull
Monster mask

Hope this helps! Remember I live in rural Idaho, hahaha, ignore the first couple of photos

Also, this thread 5 Minute TAG is all about designs that take 5 minutes or less. - Wait Alicia - you're already playing 5 minute TAG!!! Laughing The dragon from the first page is my best boy design and it goes so fast....Let us know how you're event goes.

Good Luck Lauri

Lauri--great use of a shower caddy to organize supplies! I have one that I used when I lived in a dorm (that needs to be cleaned out) but seems like a great idea for easy transport of supplies!

IMO, Spiderman should always be a full face price, it doesn't matter that it is easy and fast, it is full coverage. Try justifying that to mom who pays $4 for a whole spidey and then gets charge $8 for a butterfly. Also, again, IMO, my half face prices are not half of my full face, they are slightly more than half. I do $8 full faces and 'something little' is $5. And I don't list different prices. I say "full faces $8, or full faces $10" depending on the event That way, if I have a long line, everything is $8, but if mom says "what about a little heart on the cheek?" Well mam, I guess I can do that for $5.

I wouldn't list tigers as "girl faces"... tigers, puppies and other animal faces are generic boy or girl. Spiderman is full face price for sure. Throw in a dragon or snake and a shark or dinosaur mouth design and you should be good. Girls also like hearts, eye designs (swirls and stuff), and don't forget the unicorns.

I don't list mine by girl/boy designs. I list by prices. One side of the board is one price, one side is the other. I don't really like distinguishing between boy/girl designs, because a lot of times I will have little boys requesting butterflies and little girls requesting skulls.

I agree with everyone else, Spiderman should DEFINITELY be full face price. Also, make sure there is a definite distinction between the size of the face paintings (not just the time it takes you). That way, no one will question you on your prices. I don't tend to do full faces, so when I do PPF I have my small cheek art and eye designs being the lower price and my half faces/masks being the higher price (even if some of the half faces take me less time to do then the cheek art). Here are a few other ideas that you didn't list

Boy $4
Spider and web
Small shark
Girl $4
Unicorn
Swirl eye design
Rose
Small dolphin

$8 Designs
Snake that wraps around eyes
Fire breathing dragon
Large Scorpion
Kitty
Puppy

@Lauri~thanks for the video! Smile

@Gamezgirl~I do agree, Spidey will be full face. Just wanted to see what everyone thought because it's so simple! so it looks like I was right!! Wink

I'm getting the idea...looks like the best best will be to just make two different priced sides, not boy/girl sides. I'll just make sure to have enough equal amount of each "gender" face on each side.

Although, I do like Gamezgirl's idea of doing them all the same price, and just adding a "full face price" as extra. I'll have to think on this one....

Oh, hey Lisa! You just added me on FB this morning lol. thx!Wink

and, yes, that's why I was asking about Spiderman. It's so big but so easy, so it's definately worth a higher price just because of size. I just feel bad sometimes cause I think that the parent's are thinking, "I coulda done THAT!" LOL. Thanks for the extra list....

Not sure if i was clear, but when I do PPF, I tell people it is $8 per face. THEN if they specifically ask for 'something little' (and they will actually use that phrase) then you can offer to do one of the fast designs for a lower price. I find that it goes faster that way, one price, making cash change is easy and people WILL pay the higher price of there is no LISTED lower option. Granted, there are events where ALL faces are only $5 and events where ALL faces are $10. This is where the pre event research comes in handy. Find out the demographics of the event, small town country fair..$5 each, a city event in a medium to high income area, $8 each, the State Fair (in a somewhat depressed area), $10 each. PPF is an art, alot of people don't like it, but I love doing long days of PPF, it is invigorating and I love the challenge! And I'm willing to travel to help if anyone needs it!! LOL

There are parents that think that about ANY design we do, no matter how amazing it is. But we know better. They will go home, buy some craft paint, or maybe a small snaz kit, try it, have an awful result and then be the first person in your line thenext time they see you at an event. I think it was Sean Avram that said, they are paying for time in your seat. Not anything else, that seat is prime real estate. Made alot of sense and helped me be firm and confident in my pricing. And FYI, I am careful about saying half face or full face designs because a butterfly is full face but looks like half to an untrained parent. And a cheek art sponge bob is small but takes more time that a full face spidey...you can get caught out like that. Ask me how I know Wink

I've seen enough HORRID Spiderman paintings by people who claim to be 'real' face painters.... it's worth a full face price. Just please, for the love of superheroes, make sure the points on Spidey's eyes go out to the sides and not straight up!!

I've seen a couple of significant others on the site now . . . if anyone has the secret to how I can get mine to co operate I would appreciate it. Awesome Boy terfly - think I might have to try something like this, my little boy has been wanting one for ages but I keep putting it off (keeping thinking what my blokey husband would say when he finds his little boy all "girlied"), this one is definitely going to be tried next time, thanks for the inspiration

To make life easier on yourself, especially if you don't have a cashier or line manager, make all your designs $5 and $10... that way you only have to keep 5's and 10's and it's super easy to make change. If I'm doing a big festival I usually have a cashier, but if it's a small PPF event, I wear an apron with 2 pockets... the left pocket has 5's and the right pocket has 10's. That way, when I'm super busy, I don't have to think about making change. You'd be surprised how much time is wasted just making change when you want to be painting to make money Wink
