No time to paint designs before event ...
I have my first big event this Saturday, our local Freedom Festival, and I ordered my kit from Metina last night so I won't be able to paint any designs before the day of the event. I wanted to have some reference of designs for people to pick from but now I'm not sure how to do this. Should I draw them out & stick them in a binder? Or just ask what they want (although I find a lot of people, especially kids don't know because they don't know what I can do)?
Any suggestions?

I would just use a word list of things you are comfortable doing? or words with little drawings so the little ones can understand?

Use a word list or colour designs on a printed template (I have some on my resources page).

I posted the template I use in this thread:

I just draw up some designs in Illustrator then print them off and stick them in photo sleeves.

Ones the printing office didn't have on time my picture banner, so I just print some pics, mask, dinosaur, spider man, batman, butterfly, etc, it was like 10-12 face paint faces, plus I just print the glitter tattoos stencil pics, 6 fats henna tattoo designs, and stick them into a chalk board, separate them with sign like face paint, g tattoos, etc, it works, it was a quick idea, I hope it helps, good luck at the event!!

Use a list - yes people will ask you - what the (descriptive word here) butterfly, buy it gives you a chance to interact. I am a pro painter, a vet who has never used pictures, just a list. Works very well.

I never use designs or a word list, they can just ask whatever they want... It gives you a lot of freedom in designs, and you get a lot of fun designs you otherwise wouldn't get to paint (birthdaycake, flesh eating plant, stitched up wounds, etc.)
Working without pre-set designs also gives you a lot of liberty in different colourschemes and linework in butterflies, princesses, etc.
On long jobs I often get asked to do 20 butterflies, and all 20 will be different.

Thanks everyone!
I've done this all the time but on a smaller scale (less people). I think it might just be the way to go for me at this point

Maybe do what Denise did here (about 1/2 way down the page is a display board)

Re: No time to paint designs before event ...
in all actuality. You can pick up some Apple Barrel acrylics for $.59-.89 and paint a design board like Denises. Infact, if I were doing a board, that's exactly what I'd do instead of wasting my precious face paints on it.

I actually never though about that! What a good idea
