I just got TAG teal. It's beautiful!

I washed my sponges with a fuzzy blanket once... BIG MISTAKE! I was pulling fuzzy lint things out of them forever!

Where does TAG come from?

I just ordered a bunch of Dfx colors from Metina and I'm loving them! Now I'm realizing I want rainbow and split cakes too (ugh, so addictive!) are there any you guys recommend for a beginner?

Is it easier to use a one stroke or just the rainbow cakes for starting out?

Also, I'm debating between Dfx or TAG for the rainbow cakes or the TAG one stroke....or should I just begin with the mini ones?

tag is the best to start with... The amount of paint in those splits equals out to 3 of the little ones... best for your money and they are a bit longer which gives you an easier time loading your brush, hope that helps!!

Would your recommendation be to start with a regular rainbow cake or a one stroke for a beginner?

It depends on what you are trying to accomplish. I would highly recommed the Larger NEON splits from either TAG or DFX, they make the best butterflies. Also do you want to work with brushes or sponges? Larger ones work better with sponges, one-strokes with the #12, 3/4" and 1".

Thanks that helped! I didn't even think about the difference in using a brush or a sponge! I've been practicing with brushes and sponges an even amount and I wanted to start learning to do butterflies and other multi-colored designs. Maybe I'll get one of each and see which I like

Have you looked at TAG powder blue?

I just got my tag pearl rainbow... which I must say the colors are beautiful, but I am thinking of cutting the reddish orange color out because for some reason it doesn't seem to go for me. Other than that I love it.

Also I got the Tag gold, pearl yellow, and Light green. I love them all. I haven't tried to sponge them yet, just brushes, but they are beautiful. I will post some pics when I get my sponges out.

I appreciate all the feedback about the TAG pearls. I only have the Pearl Purple and love it. I had been wondering about the other colors. Look out, I feel a purchase coming on!

Does anyone use grimas? Is it available in the US?
I worked with it for years but now I bought a palette from DFX and grimas goes to the bin...
Have to reload too often, colours mix where I don't want to and don't mix when I do want them to.
However some colours still are fine to use as a base. But no more new orders from that brand for me.

Hi Maaike, I have the Grimas pallet too, BUT Hate it, And sometimes like it! I Made a bellypaint with a Da vinci baby and the grimascolors are very nice to use for blending en when you go wrong, just wipe it with the back op the sponge away and continue the paint.... But for Covering, Clean, Crisp lines and stuff!!! DON'T LIKE IT AT ALL!!!
So I still keep it in my kit just in case i need it for a belly!

(I don't think they sell it much in the usa, there was a question about it somewhere on this forum)

The Wolffe Brothers said Grimas was the worst brand. Didn't understand it really then, but I hadn't used it after I first tried DFX. They didn't like snaz either but a lot of forummembers use that. So i was wondering If I was the only one with the grimas love/hate thing going on. I agree Jantien!

I think most people in the Netherlands start with Grimas, because it's sold everywhere. I notice they often have that brand at daycarecenters, schools etc. I agree that it is pigmented very low compared to other brands, but it blends great. I use the Grimas often for a base. I like the pearls and I use the Superstar parelmoer white with the pure colours of Grimas, mix them together on my sponge. Together with the Superstar parelmoer the pure grimas colours look more vibrant. I will not buy Grimas anymore. Just use it because I can't throw any paint away.
However ... I like the Grimas system of stacking the pallets. I made a small kit to take with me out of empty Grimas pallets. I put the other brands in it and stack it alltogether.

i never used grimas. started with superstar and extended with partyxplosion.

I have Grimas and like it a lot. The Pearls are beautiful and I have several other colours too that I use regularly.

I order mine from the UK but there is a US based reseller.
