Re: split and rainbow cakes- make or buy?
I am just looking at your shadow and it is the same one I just bought LOL have you used it with a sponge yet?
Re: split and rainbow cakes- make or buy?
It's from Dollar Tree. L.A. Colors brand or something like that? It's a great square size. I have used a sponge on it and it works great! Still thinking I want something bigger though.? I've seen people making butterflies with one whole edge of the sponge! or, maybe their cakes are actually smaller than I remember. idk.

Yup! same one glad to know it works with a sponge. I have been looking for a bigger one too and actually found a perfect container, it is from a bronzer but it wasn't a dollar I saw it at the christmas tree shop. This one here

Congrats on your first homemade cake
Alicia - You wanna see something scary!! The only reason the three paradise paints in the middle aren't cut up is because I haven't gotten there yet, maybe tonight!! Oh, I might have a metallic black TAG floating around uncut somewhere in there too.
Keep in mind, 90% of my ppf designs use a rainbow cake and all my cut up paints just stay home. In fact, they haven't left the counter in so long that Darren just accepts that this is their new home Lauri

Freeze the cakes for a while before cutting as this makes them easier.

Metina thanks for the tip, I "steamed" the red before I cut it the other day and it worked okay. I will be trying the freezing next time. Lauri

WOW! You've got it goin' on!! I've made about 4-5 splits, but don't seem to need any more right now. I still haven't used all of them very much. I've used my pink/white/red alot and the greens for leaves and the blues for dolphin/shark. I have a couple others that I don't really use much so IDK what else I need..... I use my sponges alot.

OMGosh Lauri!!!!!!!! Look at all that paint, I am salivating
Re: split and rainbow cakes- make or buy?
I'm with Allie Dawn, there are only a few designs where I use my splits. I love the way they look- and I would probably catch the fever like the rest of you if I were better at comming up with designs to use them for!
