I put mine in the microwave for about 10 seconds... works great for me.

I also used the microwave, be careful though, I went to long on one and had to fool around and put it in the fridge till I could work with it. I also, (someone else on this forum suggested it,not my idea) wrapped the pieces of paint in plastic wrap and held it in my hand until it was soft they used it to form my cakes. I'm still no pro, but this was a fun project, my little girl even got in on the act.

It seems different brands seem to require different means.
My DFX needed no real help. My snaz, I popped out the cake, put plastic wrap down in the container. put the cake on it and then sprayed liberally and left overnight wrapped. Worked like a charm!!
Have not had to try the microwave trick yet, but then I didn't need to!

I actually spray the crumbly ones (just got dfx lilac and I went to cut it and it crumbled) with water and let them sit overnight. then I whack them up side down on the counter and the whole cake comes out. Have fun!
