I found a similar black light on Amazon http://tinyurl.com/blacklight24 for only $15 and it has free shipping if you order $25 which is easy to get to - or order two, one for a friend....

Re: Details/Rules/Prize
Thanks guys! I thought using the UV's for a challenge was going to be well a challenge, but when I sat down and started painting, I really had a good time. I didn't concern myself with the coverage or anything like that and just kept painting and by the time I was finished, the coverage looked great and I was pleased with the results. I hope to see more painting by everyone. I want to see more of what everyone can come up with as most of us don't use UV's as regularly as our other colors.
Re: Details/Rules/Prize
Tips for UV painting and photography.
Keep in mind that for best results any face and body painting done for UV effects should be done in the UV lights. Also keep in mind this is not for everyone as UV lighting is not good for your eyes and actually can hurt some people. So if it really bothers your eyes don't paint in UV light.
One should also remember that the use of negative space is also important to get a good UV reactive effect.
For photography to get the great results you need lots of light and a good camera.
In the US standard shop light fixtures and UV bulbs can be found at many big national chain hardware stores. The best bet is go as big as you can afford. Be sure you have the light source in front of you (not you in the light) and best also to the sides of your subject.
Since you have your camera on a low light setting no flash steady your camera with a tripod or such.
UV can be fun and if your in a good urban market or working with haunters it can be profitable for you. So if it is for you I highly suggest taking Wolf Reicherter's classes. Not only does he show you how to paint in and for UV lighting he explains and shows the photography process. He is at both both US conventions this year. He has classes as well as pre and post classes. Here's the first one http:/fpabconvention.com
One good thing about UV work is it loans itself well to big tribalish paintings so you need not be a detail diva to get a really cool UV painting. But you do have to master the lighting if you want good photographs.

Re: Details/Rules/Prize
i actually attempted a design for this contest as my in laws were in town and we were going to Monster Mini Golf and the whole place is lit by black lights! BUT, I couldn't for the life of me get a decent picture! But we had a blast while we were there and I got to hand out a lot of business cards so it wasn't a total loss!

Paint yourself and go to a club where they have UV light. Then take pictures and give out a lot of business cards?
Re: Details/Rules/Prize
I loathe going to clubs. It's really not my scene, but I'm thinking about going to a bowling ally that offers cosmic bowling.
Re: Details/Rules/Prize
OK...on topic but not! Just got an email from a regular Grad gig I do every year....they now are looking at a 'glow in the dark' grad! She asked if I had any henna that did that, I told her no....(did not add in the 'DUH' I was feeling) BUT did let her know there are UV 'black light' paints and I would provide a link and she could either purchase them and then the school could keep them to use at a later day...I would just use them for the evening and give them back or they could chip in 50%, I would purchase and then keep them and since I would rarely use them, they would be available the next year at no additonal cost. SO....that brings me to...which are the best paints I should provide the link to? Or the best brand? Looking for any suggestions!!!! Thanks a million guys!!!!!
