Help with a Christmas design!
Ok, got this great idea, but I'm not sure how to polish it to give it that nice finished look. Any suggestions is greatly appreciated! And please post your own spin of it, I would love to see! The center peppermint was done with the mop. And the candycanes where done with a small flat brush. THANKS!!
OH! And had to share. Vi from Sparklingfaces posted a youtube video of a quick reindeer. Here is my little sqirmy boy. Thanks Vi!!!

A few ideas... Try a shadow under the candy, and maybe a little shading around the inside of the middle one (to make it look 3D round). You could put highlights too. Candy like that is usually shiny, right? Maybe some starbursts around?
...what a cutie pie reindeer!

Re: Help with a Christmas design!
Oo Gina, good ideas! Something I thought about after was adding a real translusent base. So I kinda just plugged in a little sparkle white around it all to just get an idea. Looked good enough to tie it all together. I took it off before I came back to read the responses tho. I haven't done much of the shading, but I'm gonna give it a try! It should look better on a cute kid, instead of a tired mom with out makeup, lol!!
Thanks for the complements for my little cute! He makes me smile!

Re: Help with a Christmas design!
Cute design & what a cutie your boy is! How about putting some holly between the candycanes?
Re: Help with a Christmas design!
Holly and some shading I agree would pull it together - it's a good design! And your little boy just made me smile outright! Thanks for sharing :-)!

Re: Help with a Christmas design!
I really like these designs! I have a municipal event to paint tomorrow and every year the mob of kids is ENORMOUS! THAnKS for that quickie (ADORABLE KID!) reindeer!
Re: Help with a Christmas design!
Melisa,
Here's what you inspired me to do(I was working a Christmas event & painted my face for it).

Re: Help with a Christmas design!
The picture of your son is TOO CUTE! It looks totally professional. You need to use it for advertising!
Re: Help with a Christmas design!
I found your painting quite inspirational. I think it is lovely. This was my take on it. Now please note this is my first ever FP pic post. And I am a work in progress!!!!!! I'm extremely intimidated by the talent every one here has. But you all are so friendly, So I thought why not give it a shot.

Anra, you can show a picture in your post by clicking the "host an image" button above the text box, and choosing the image you want to use. Then copy the link it gives you, and choose the "image" button to paste the link into. Hope this helps!

Re: Help with a Christmas design!
I love ALL the designs! What inspiration to try some and quickies, too!
Here is my Holiday Candy Cane Deer on little miss wiggleworm. I got these photos from a wonderful parent and didn't get one of the final finish but you get the idea. I posted the step by step of what I had in the DCmetroFP photo album.
Happy Holidays to all,
Susan
PS: the Snowman & wreath balls were quickly done with pouncers for some of my workshop designs.
