YOU are invited to the 2nd South Central PA *JAM* (York, PA) :)
Welcome to our 2nd ever SCPA Face Painting JAM!
DATE: this Sunday (November 21st) at 4pm at Bogey Macaws American Grille at Springwood Golf Course. Please note there is also a Bogey Macaws at Heritage Hills Gold Course (which owns Springwood, so it get confusing), but we are at the Springwood one. Here is a Google Map for you: http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ie=UTF8&q=bogey+macaws+map&fb=1&gl=us&hq=bogey+macaws&hnear=Grantley,+PA&view=map&cid=9518894744902496998&iwloc=A&ved=0CIUBEKUG&sa=X&ei=0CPQTJy5HKKszATn6KyZBQ
WHO: ALL are invited, regardless of level. If you are newer to FP'ing we expect you have at least read all the posts on this forum (or read a FP book or two) and have a rudimentary kit. No worries about ability level, please - we can learn from you too!
PLEASE PREPARE: an Autumn or Thanksgiving face to share with us. Don't fret this - if it is simple, no worries! We will still learn from it We'll take turns showing each other how we paint this face (either on our practice faces, or on each other) during our first hour... remember, there is no right or wrong way to paint, so just share how *you* do it.
PLEASE BRING:
*kit with (optional) practice head and camera
*marketing supplies (business cards, or handwritten cards with your info, to hand to those who you paint)
*(optional) models (your kids, etc.) - please note that they will only be able to be in our cabana room after 5pm (when we paint the public); our first hour is private.
*short list of faces you either want to try out, or need more practice with, or for which you need a photo for your display board. This is the place to try new ideas. We have models who will be ready to be your blank canvas - use this time to try new things and practice and learn and push yourself out of that comfort zone!!! I have a ladybug gig coming up, so I will need to try a few out...
*unwanted supplies - we will swap/sell them to each other (bring cash too!).
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND:
*We will meet for the first hour (I have an agenda!) and then paint the public at 5pm.
*Please market yourself to those you paint (give business cards, explain your services), but be sure to keep all other "marketing" efforts discrete and gentle. No marketing to Bogey Macaws restaurant staff please - it was arranged before our 1st jam that they will come to *us* when they need us.
*Remember how dark that room is? I have my own lighting situation figured out, and if anyone needs an extra light, I will bringing a small battery-powered light.
Warmest regards, see you on Sunday!

Re: YOU are invited to the 2nd South Central PA *JAM* (York, PA) :)
We had a great jam tonight! We had a new painter Christine who is just so sweet! She is a year out of college, and a very nice painter. We have almost too many painters now, we run out of models in the restaurant quickly
Debi has some pics up somewhere... maybe facebook? I will post the a few of mine here, but mostly Debi has the good pics because her camera is the only one that can deal with the wonky lighting there.
Anyway, just want to say that if you are on the fence about starting a jam (or don't feel like you are good enough to start one yourself) - do it! It is just so fun, and you only have to have a passion for FP'ing to do it. It is so nice that there are supportive face painters in your area. I always felt a bit alone as I was doing my marketing, but now I know that if I ever forget my brushes or need a shoulder to cry on or need someone to take over a day or two of a recurring gig, that I have my girls (and vice versa). It is a total blessing to know the fellow face painters in your area, not a curse at all. Yes, they are your competition, but you can be friends and supportive with your competition too - what a NICE way to live!!!!
Our next jam is Sunday Dec 5th, same time, same place. I put out the invitation in a week or so. All are welcome
