Newbie question about stencils
So, do you use a special kind of stencil? What do I need to know? I saw a Sillyfarm tutorial with a dolphin stencil and it looked like a regular painting stencil. Is it better to get stencils specifically made for face painting? What are the most popular ones to get? I want to have some really fast options available for big parties with lots of people to paint.

Re: Newbie question about stencils
I always use regular stencils or ones I make myself. If you use a regular stencil made with that "plasticy stencil paper" then you have to keep in mind that the face curves a lot and those stencils do not conform to the face well enough to create clean and crisp lines. To avoid that, only use smaller stencils that fit well on the cheek or forehead which provide a fairly flat surface. Also, do not use the paint watery or use it in a swiping motion as it causes it to smudge. Make your sponge covered in paint fairly dry and dab it on for the best results. Hope this helps.
Re: Newbie question about stencils
I have several of the pink stencils from SF. Picked them up on sale at FABAIC. They had a special on a pack of 10 and you could pick the 10 you wanted.
I use them alot on smaller children with a rainbow cake.......quick instant gratification or if I have a long line....do stencil design then embellish it with swirls and curls.....fast fast fast

Re: Newbie question about stencils
Mandi and I will be doing our first face painting gig with stencils this weekend, we've been practicing and it so quick and easy. I believe Mandi bought all her stencils from Silly Farm, she has got quite the variety. And a great range for boys and girls. She has inspired me to order some too.
Hope you have lots of fun with your new stencils when you get them Gina.
