Newbie to the forum-intro, question, and tip

Hi guys, My name's Liz Kennedy and though I've been painting about 5 years, I've just recently decided to get serious about it and go pro. Translation: I'm actually starting to believe that perhaps I actually have some talent and should pursue this. Lord knows I love doing it.
and, may I say--I love that there's a forum for facepainters!

Tip: I use painting practice heads and practice skin, but it's not always easy to get all the color off. I tie dye alot, and tried a product called ReDuran, which I bought here: http://www.dharmatrading.com/html/eng/1980-AA.shtml?lnav=chemicals.html

IT'S AMAZING! I loved it to get dye off my hands, but holy crap--in 15 seconds it had removed All the stains. No joke~!

Question: this link is reposted form the North East Ohio facepainter's guild. I'm investigating joining, so I looked at their "Jam Sessions" photos...and I was intrigued by Jeanette and Karen's brush holders:

Hello and welcome! I am a newbie/not-newbie too lol!

The brush holders are ice cube trays - there is a thread about them here:

with a link to Amazon. Apparently lots of people have been able to find them at Walmart.

My brush holder is a similar idea... I bought a popsicle-maker tray and threw away the popsicle handle parts. It only has seven holes - it's kind of weird, there is one single one at one end - but they are larger openings than the ice cube trays which I like, and it works really well for me. I am making myself get in the habit of putting the same size or type of brushes in a specific hole each time, so eventually it will be very easy for me to grab the right brush when I need it.

Ha, after I went back and looked at the pics again, I recognized Jeanette's setup from a thread here in the forum!! It's one I had bookmarked for myself because I thought it was such a brilliant idea! Magnets, yay!

Hello & welcome to the forum! The ice cube trays are great. They sell them at the beginning of the summer at Walmart or you can buy them(for much more expensive) from Amazon. Walmart $4 in the picnicware section or $10 on Amazon.

Hi Liz, welcome. Thanks for the information on the dye removal lotion. I was skeptical, and I still cannot figure out what component within the recipe is the one that makes all dyes clear, before using surfactants to wash them away. But the reviews look great! The remainder of the the lotion looks just the same as though you used a liquid soap with Magic Erasers (it has surfactants and a -rather harsh- scrubbing particles). But there is an also ingredients that neutralizes the dye - and that I am interested in!

I bought some to try out. I will report back. Sally (my practice head) is a MESS and I cannot use her photos for my display board... I would like to!
