collodion van kryolan
Today I bought a bottle of collodion by Kryolan.
That stuff is great!!
You can make realistic scars with it.
Highly recommended for scary halloween designs.

See on the left side and click on prof.make up.
Then at "Waxes & Putties" on skin (huid)
Re: collodion van kryolan
Ben Nye also makes collodion. I hear it STINKS!!! (as in is smelly)
I hear it kinda shrinks and puckers up the skin. I saw a tutorial on UTube

Re: collodion van kryolan
It actually is not all that safe. Professional sfx artists rarely use it anymore as it is carcinogenic. I have some in my sfx kit, and yes, it makes very cool realistic scars but it is hard to remove and STINKS.
Think airplane glue... if you are old enough to remember what that smells like. Pretty much the same as that.
I think they did come up with a "new" safer version but I'm not 100% sure. They still sell the same stuff I have which is the old not so safe stuff.

Where is that mentioned?
Collodion will also be used in hospitals for pasting wounds.
And what today is not carcinogenic?
You can not always pay attention on everything.
I think that facepainting too often is not so good either.
On page two of this link is that it is not carcinogenic

I bought it too amd I am super excited to use it. Should be super cool.
You put a light foundation or powder over the dried glue to get rid of the glossy look.

For the more realistic look you should apply some make up.
For a nice fresh scar you can also make a line with a brown/red lip pencil first and then the collodion on top of it.
Re: collodion van kryolan
That's what I was taught at make-up school... and I did say that I thought they came out with a safer version!
I have it in my kit, just haven't used it since make-up school!

Re: collodion van kryolan
Maybe I have the safe version.
Ingredients are: Ethyl Ether, Alcohol and Nitrocellulose.
And of course it is good to warn people of danger!
I think your make-up school is long ago.

Oops Shannon , Sorry!
You're so good and professional that I thought it was around the 80s.

Both... I was the oldest in the class. Then I was the oldest in my driving class... I needed to drive to get to gigs. I didn't get my license until I was 37. I was also working fulltime while in school too.
