Re: Favorite Sci Fi Show
I have an X-Files script - a real one from the set for "Kitsungari"... my BIL works in the trades and it was left on his flatdeck!

Re: Favorite Sci Fi Show
Just out of curiosity - does "Lost" fall into the sci-fi category ?
If not where does it fall?
I think Shannon nailed it with Hitch Hikers Guide - I had the radio version on CD and used to listen to it going to sleep at night.
Too many times I have wished I had a babel fish...... knew someone called Slartibartfast........ and used the answer to life the universe and everything when nothing else will do.
As for books - I guess the Celestine Prophecy is more spiritual then sci-fi.
But I 've never had a book have such a profound effect on me.

I have an interactive fiction game of Hitchhiker's Guide... old DOS version, plain text on a black screen... but it was a hoot. I still have it (my oldest computer still runs floppies) I played and played and played but could NEVER get off the Heart of Gold!

What about Sliders?
How about V? the build-up, the promos, the mini-series...(I found it for a buck at a garage sale about a year ago-had never been opened)
Loved a lot of the ones you talked about, too!

Re: Favorite Sci Fi Show
V is one of the few remakes of a series that I'm liking!
Sliders was great(though the name reminded me of a dish my hubby at on the ship in the Navy
Lost is sci-fi to me. I gave up after the 2nd season & am now watching it on Netflix via the Wii.

Re: Favorite Sci Fi Show
I lov sci-fi, Twilite Zone, X Files, etc and altho I got bored with the first ten minutes and shut the premier off, I happened to see a rerun of the Event come on Bravo and was just leaving the room when the character said "they aren't terrestrial" which was totally unexpected and got my attention!
I had to see all three episodes online twice to keep up with the twists, turns and that durned timeline. Gotta hand it to those writers and if they keep it up, I'm hooked!

Re: Favorite Sci Fi Show
LOL! I don't have the brain power for all the "2 hours earlier" moments of The Event!
Re: Favorite Sci Fi Show
Tales from the crypt, Star trek (next generation only). Friday the 13th the series on Fox.

I find it rather interesting that we are all such SciFi geeks. I think it goes with the openness of being so creative. BTW don't forget the modern giant...Stargate!!! The new is not bad but the old back-in-the-day was way cool. I have been a Dr. Who fan for about 30 years. Tom Baker rules!!!

Re: Favorite Sci Fi Show
Loved Firefly! But then on Hulu I get to find all the really great sci-fi/fantasy series that got dumped...and I'm like someone making those decisions are crazy! And I'm a Star Trek / Dr. Who fan from way back. When I was little I remember doing 24 hour marathons on the UHS station with my mom :-) I even had the Star Trek action figures and Enterprise Starship deck playset. Gee - I wish I still had it!
My current addiction is Fringe - I LOVE that show - and I am enjoying The Event if only for the format, and even though it's a little silly - No Ordinary Family. I guess if I can care about the characters I can get hooked. Watched Eureka for several seasons but I finally lost interest. I don't know ... it just seemed like with all the twists and turns I sort of stopped caring. Not sure why though?
And when it comes to books - it's a little more fantasy than sci-fi but Shari Tepper puts out some amazing books.

Re: Favorite Sci Fi Show
Twilight, Dr. Who, Stargate and Alantis they were great. Fringe isn't bad, but I agree the older ones are better. The Day the Earth Stood Still a classic.
My two kids, one adult and one teen and myself all love them.

Re: Favorite Sci Fi Show
I agree that Firefly is my favorite, favorite. Have you noticed how many of the actors from that show are hot right now? Jayne was my favorite charactor in Firefly, and I'll admit to still watching Chuck because he's on it! Maybe that is one of the reasons we like the new "V" so much, because it has Inara as Anna. I also liked the goofyness of the first season of Eureka, but after that... eh. I'll tell you what my Netflix has been suggesting for me is Torchworld. I think it's a Dr Who spin-off. Has anyone seen it?
Re: Favorite Sci Fi Show
Torchwood. Capt Jack is cool!!
Yeah, I like Castle too!! And The Mentalist, and Lie to Me, and Medium.

Definitely Start Trek fan. Love Battlestar, firefly.
I also like the X-filish shows, and Supernatural - I don't think that's really sci-fi though. heh

Re: Favorite Sci Fi Show
What is it about face painting that attracts sci-fi geeks? LOL! I love the old Star Trek, and like TNG, love Dr. Who (Tom Baker is my Dr. Who), Oh yeah Gina - Friday the 13th on late at night on FOX, Eureka (but haven't watched in awhile), V (old and new), Sliders, ...almost all the ones you've mentioned!
Yeah, I get lost when I watch LOST and The Event too.
Talking about watching Castle because of Nathan Fillion reminds me of how I watch Bones because of David Boreanaz (Buffy and Angel). I never caught Firefly but I do watch Castle. Maybe I should Hulu or netflix Firefly!

Re: Favorite Sci Fi Show
Definitely watch Bones if you like Angel. He is not Angel in it at all, but he makes the show
Castle is not bad, Nathan is pretty good in it.
I was wondering about that too - geeks and face painting. Maybe its the sci-fi lover/geek in us that leads us to the internet-type networking with other face painters.

Re: Favorite Sci Fi Show
The other "space cowboy" show that I love (but not sci-fi) is Cowboy Bebop! Tell me it's not a cartoon version of Firefly.
Re: Favorite Sci Fi Show
