Brush Holder!!! Empty Brush Holder!!!

Post by pjhamel Thu Aug 05, 2010 9:17 pm

So I finally got around to making my brush holder/apron tonight. Thought I would share a picture with you guys.
Here it is:
Brush Holder!!! Brush_10

It attaches with velcro on the back and can hold a ton of brushes, as well as my dotter wands(which you can't see in this pic).
So what do you guys think?

Looks very professional - good job!
I was just thinking about how it would be to be looking down to see what I was grabbing all the time - and do you wash the brushes out and put them back in the apron? or put them somewhere else still loaded to reuse for the same color? I was just wondering what your system was and how your smart looking apron would fit into this.

I usually rinse them between use anyway, and the black canvas is pretty water proof. So I am probably just going to rinse them and stick them back in the apron.
If I am at a gig where I don't have the chance to rinse the brushes, I will probably just lay the apron out on the table and pull the brushes from there. That way they will still be organized.
Either way, it will still look cute and all of my brushes will be easily accessible.

Great idea & very cute. I thought about something similar as I saw another painter use an apron & I'd love to clear the spot off my table where I keep my brushes, but I have "two things' that would get in the way a block my view of my brushes Embarassed

What things? Brush Holder!!! Icon_eek

Nice job on that apron. Brush Holder!!! Icon_biggrin

I bought a belt years ago with apron panels for brushes, etc. They were for make-up artists. Looks something like this one http://www.paintandpowderstore.com/prodimages/pps-0230_sm.jpg

I tried using it a couple of times but I can't see what I'm reaching for (It is one thing in my way the other two aren't that big).

It now sits in the bin of useless items that cost too much to get rid off... and I had to wash it all this year when I discovered mice had been nesting in the bin - no damage and clean now.

Ha ha...yeah, me too. I didn't factor them into the equation, unfortunately. But I can still lay it out if I can't see over them.

Fabulous work pjhamel, I have to admitt I wasn't blessed with any skill in sewing. I've just had a girlfriend sew up a cushion cover for me, it's for my director's chair I put the VERY sparkley cushion at the back of the chair so the little ones don't fade away from me when I'm painting them. Wink
Psalmbook I too have those two things that would get in the way Embarassed

You could make a balloon apron too.....
I use a busking bag because those 2 things got in the way when I'd try to find the right color balloon when I wore an apron Very Happy

I use the one in the link for facepainting, and have started using one for my makeup brushes also. I find it works really well, since I don't have to look around to find my brushes, they are always the same place. (There are some pictures of it in my gallery, just some of the brushes have been replaced).

Awesome job! By the end of a 2 hour event I usually have about 20 used brushes sprawled out across my little table. I have a tiny table and I love velcro too, so this would be perfect. I think I'm going to borrow this idea if you don't mind. ;]
