Smoothie blenders
Did a google search and came up with small appliances!
I'm trying to find the cheapest place to buy them.
HELP!?!?!?

Re: Smoothie blenders
I recently bought some at A.C. Moore (same size as the ones sold at SF) for 3 bucks each. I would check a craft store first. I think SF has them for $6 each
Re: Smoothie blenders
Metina sells them in the forum shop

You can get disposable "smoothies" (which, at makeup stores, are eyeshadow applicators) in bulk through a makeup supply website, or if you call your local Sephora store, they may be able to give you some for free if you tell them how many you need. I was doing makeup for a production and specifically needed mascara wands so I called Sephora to see if they sold them and they said, "No, but we can set some aside for you and you can come by the store and pick them up." Surely enough, I got there, and they had a gift bag for me full of mascara wands, eyeshadow and lipgloss applicators and a ton of other things I hadn't even considered asking for! I love that store so much it is dangerous!

Re: Smoothie blenders
But are the disposable ones big like the "blenders"? or are they small like eye shadow applicators?
Re: Smoothie blenders
I could not find the ones in Metina's store. I bought one (I don't remember where!) but it is a wee bit small and black and the spongy part starting crumbling off on my daughter's face on my third use! I bought ones called "smoothie blender", but I think they were not the good ones!
Edited to add: I think it was around $3 or so... the good ones are twice that, eh?

If you don't wash your smoothies the oils/bacteria(not sure what) will destroy them. They'll crumble apart, not to mention how bad it's gotta be for your face. I wash mine after every gig(not Canada standards, but pretty good). They do split at the top after a while.

The disposable ones are small like eye shadow applicators.
Re: Smoothie blenders
I don't think I ever posted a link for the large smoothies. I may have posted a link to a wholesaler to show the different types at some point (I don't remember).
I use eye-shadow applicators. You can buy in packages at the dollar store. They are washable or disposable if you don't want to wash. I use them for powders and glitter.
I don't have any of the large smoothie blenders (the type SF sells) - I have a lollipop style foam applicator that is about the size of a quarter, and some foam "swabs" that the hospital uses to clean people's mouths (they are flower shaped!) http://www.parentgiving.com/shop/products_pictures/00001vHAL5602UT.jpg
For applying powder bases I just use blush brushes.

Re: Smoothie blenders
thanks for posting that picture of the foam swabs Shannon! I work near a hospital and have friends and relatives who are medical personnel so I'm sure I could bum some off them They look like they could be great for doing floral designs!

Re: Smoothie blenders
I had to clean her teeth for her and they gave me bundles of the swabs to clean out her mouth... I'd just go ask for more every week or so...

Re: Smoothie blenders
Snazaroo sells the large round disposable foam applicators. They are about the same size as Smoothie Blenders, but much less expensive. I actually like the disposable ones better than Smoothies. They're much easier to clean. They're very inexpensive, but the shipping costs are usually more than the cost of the applicators.

Wolf Bros. has small foam blenders. I paid a doller per blender but I like the Smoothie's better. I like the covering on them. Plain foam is a little scratchy and I don't think it blends as well. (I'm hyper sensitive).

Re: Smoothie blenders
I found these at Walgreens one time in the make-up section. Ask a craft store or person in a craft department about them and they look like their little minds are going to explode.....you will see some very interesting clueless expressions. I found them at walgreens as a pack of 6, nice quality, not disposable and they were only like $3.49.
