First real body painting, need advice!
Hey everyone,
Here is my first attempt at painting a shirt on my daughter in law.
I am not happy with this design or the way it turned out.
It is really hard to blend colors on large areas...does anyone have any tips on how to blend better?
I guess its not bad for my first attempt. I used medical tape to cover the nipples, i think it worked ok.
Anyway, I am looking for tips on how to do better body painting!! Let me know what you guys think, and i welcome all feedback so that I may improve.
Thanks gals

I saw nipple covers in WALMART the other day!
Cool design, you must have a very good relationship with your daughter-in-law!

I love the lace detail and the ties on the side. Very pretty.

You did a great job. The first time is hard... things take longer than you expect, and you learn what's different than face painting (which isn't much).
If you were having trouble blending large area... I'd guess you were using Wolfe/DFX? Maybe try the snaz/paradise type that are a bit easier to blend even after they dry. And I second the Kabuki brush. They are fabulous.
If you wanted it to look like actual clothing, take a close look at clothes... the stitching, the shadows cast on the skin, how the fabric bends and folds, the highlights. Those little details are how you get it to look like fabric.
But as I said, it looks great!

Re: First real body painting, need advice!
Thanks Jbax, those tips will def. help!! I think I am going to try a simple tank top for my next attempt!
And I was using paradise for the blue and purple, the black was wolf.
I tried sponging the color on....that did not look right.....so i went back over with a brush.......and i still feel that it is not blended well....grrrr
And I did not want to use tiger marking on the design, but i chickened out on where i would put swirls and teardrops. I wanted to breasts to kind of disapear and in no way did i acomplish that.
And you are right....body painting took a lot more time then i thought it would.

1st i want to say WOW, that looks great. only recommendation i could maybe put in is to cut the nipple tape into rounds, just so u can't distinguish the square! luv it!

I like this design.
The issue with blending any paint is practice. And yes large areas become more difficult. In body painting I spent a whole year mastering my blending of the three brands I use. Paint moves differently in different body areas and an area with a bone or natural oil spotting will effect the makeup.
While a Kabuki brush does a great job - trust me when I say you can get as good results with a Body Brush once you master brush blending.
As for strokes just remember to go bigger than on the face.
Still - nice work. Be happy with it and enjoy the learning process - because your always learning.
