Posting pics in your message
Hiya,
I think many may be having problems cracking this mystery so here is what I do.
Any others, please feel free to correct or add to this. Thanks!
I know it is frustrating to figure out how to post pics on here and hopefully this might help.
Click this button.
Browes to your photo and select the size. Click "upload"
You will then be given three lines of code. Copy and paste the last one. Click this button and paste what you copied here. Click "OK" This will put the picture in the post. Let me know.
Hope this helps.

Re: Posting pics in your message
So that totally does not work for me...however this does.....incase others have the same issue with pictures on their site not working.
If you have the picture on your hard drive, click the symbol that looks like a monitor with a disk in front of it [Host an Image] is what the function is. (This icon is visible when you are editing a post or typing a response only).
It will prompt you to browse your computer.
Click the Browse button. Find your image on your computer.
Click on the image you want to upload. [Beware if the image is way big, it might balk and kick you back out. But if you have used a program like MS Paint to resize it....it'll work fine.]
There is a box at the bottom that says 'Resize Image'. Look at the options. I pick the smallest and it works just fine for posting stuff...plus it makes it save space on the site.
Click 'Host It'.
You then get a box with three options to 'Copy'. Thumbnail, Image, or Image URL. I choose the bottom box and click the copy button; 'Image URL'.
Then you can just click the other icon that has a picture on it; [Image] is what it says when you mouse over it. It opens a tiny box where you can hit 'paste' and the Image URL you just copied will print in it. Hit ok.
This will implant the picture's Url on in the text box of your post.
You are done...if you hit send to send your message....the picture will show up.
You can play around with picture sizes and see which you like best.
Hope that helps! For some reason I can't get images from my own website to work doing any other technique. So I just use the 'Host an Image' button. You might have to sign up the first time you use it, but it seems to work fine.

Re: Posting pics in your message
I think we are talking about the same pic. (Host it) whatever works.
Re: Posting pics in your message
Oh...mmm, I could have sworn your post was about posting a pic hosted already on your site...as I had seen earlier....ok, my eyes are playing tricks on me!
I know Shannon can post stuff directly from her site, but I can't! Mmmm, sorry, I've had a bad cold all week and I must have been confused. Yes, this method works if you are having any sorts of posting problems otherwise!

Re: Posting pics in your message
Yeah, I just upload the photos to my server/host/website directory and then post the address in the photo pop-up box which uses the html shown here: [img][/img] you can also just type this code and the http:/ /www. whatever etc in there, between the two bracketed codes too...
I will do it that way (manually typing in the code and address) here to test it
Yup, that worked!

Re: Posting pics in your message
Shannon, once you have posted your picture on your site...where do you get the photo's actual address? I get these huge lines of code when I post a picture...maybe that is my problem?
Great pic btw!

Re: Posting pics in your message
I will go to your site and try it!
Well... yes you do get code instead of the image... where are your photos stored? Do you upload them to a directory that you can then look at? I tried linking via the photo image on your site, but it doesn't not appear to have a resident directory ... mine are all on www. shannonfennell.com/nameofphoto.jpg for example...

Re: Posting pics in your message
Ahhhh HA! So I'm not going crazy....
I was trying for the longest time to get them to post from my site...glad you had the same problem.
I am using a free site, Google Sites. I just do what they ask me to upload my pictures....I've not created any special directories...just post them and they get their own page and a Thumbnail on the page I post on.
It's probably some wierd thing about using a freebie site that does it.
Ergo, I was so happy to have figured out the 'host it' function with whatever freevie site that is (though, just where are they posting them in cyberspace...mmmm). It takes longer and it's not perfect...but it works for now!
Thank you for trying Shannon! /hugs

Re: Posting pics in your message
I get the photo I want to post up on another tab in my browser, then copy the http for the photo into the pop-up box on the image icon... it needs to have an "address" if you want to use that way of posting it.
I haven't tried the other way - the Host it thing - because the link works for me.

Re: Posting pics in your message
I'm trying to use 320 px width on the first screen, but I always use the middle one that says "image", unless I just want the thumbnail:
I previewed. Cool!

Re: Posting pics in your message
If you go to edit your post, you will see there is extra code. It is hard to explain.
Basically you can delete the from the code you see.
Cute eye design. Hope to see you enter it in the current challenge!
