Hi, my name is Jenni from Spokane, Wa. I love the forum and it has helped me a ton! I am new to posting, I could hardly figure it out. I started face painting this year as an add on to our jump castle business. It is so addicting! I wanted to find out what the best paints were to buy. I did a lot of research the first time I ordered and got Wolfe black and white and a neon/metallic pallete. Now I need to get some larger sizes and don't know that I love the Wolfe White. I searched the forum for the Favorites of others but was unable to find anything. Can anyone show me the link if there is one, for everyones favorite brands? I need to get some pretty soon.

Thanks
Jenni

HI and welcome to the forum.
Try here - http://www.facepaintforum.com/frequently-asked-questions-f62/dfx-vs-wolfe-t2559.htm
That's a discussion on Wolfe v's DFX - there are a lot of threads discussing the topic of favourite brands - everyone is different so there is no prevailing BEST brand, each of us uses different brands for different reasons, some will give you a great base/blend well, others will give you nice clean lines. It's really your preference.
Have fun!

IMO you have the best white (or tie for best, with similar formulations!) but I am not at all a pro. White is difficult - once you practice a lot with it you will get the hang of it... how to make it more opaque, etc. Maybe just keep practicing with the Wolfe white that you have? It really is pretty good stuff...

Welcome Jenni!
What don't you like about wolfe white? It might be the amount of water you are using.
It's the best for line work. Paradise white is great for background or base work.

Maybe that is my problem? It just doesn't seem to show up very well. I see other face painting examples and the white looks so vivid, when I use it, it never seems to show up well. Does it need to be pretty wet?

Wolfe? DFX need to be mixed to an inky consistancy -used for brite white and sharp lines -too much water will leave you in a puddle. Bases best with Paradise and krylon will depend how creamy you want to go - they will reativate with water. It's an art form where the medium and the brushes matter. It takes time, patience and practice. My best favorite may not be your favorite> there is def a time and monetary investment if you want to be really good.

wolfe is difficult to blend & once it dried will pull off onto the sponge if you try to add more paint(kind of like writing on a dry erase board & the trying to write over it again). It takes some work, but can be blended w/ a lot of practice. I usually load all the colors on my sponge that I'm going to use for a base and apply them at the same time(this should help).
Here's a thread that covers it(in the demo I'm using paradise, but the same technique applies).

Hi Jenni! Wolfe is my favorite white, but wolfe did take me a while to get used to making it the right consistency to achieve what I wanted. I used it too watery. From my experience (which is less than a lot of people on here), you can make most brands work for what you want, you just have to play with it until you figure out how to use it. Many people complain about blending issues with wolfe, but there are others who do beautiful blending with wolfe. You just have to get used to working with it. Hope you find the info you're looking for!
