What Challenges would you like to see?
Hiya,
In planning for future challenges, I wanted to get some input on designs that you would like to see or submit. Please give your opinions and some reasons why. Thanks so much!

Re: What Challenges would you like to see?
Dragons (not just the head), on the face. Could use some new inspiration there.
Re: What Challenges would you like to see?
Superheroes (Iron Man), Transformers, Disney characters, tribals
Re: What Challenges would you like to see?
Tribals would be fun! Especially designs for the face. But also the body of course. Also celtic knots and such ^_^, I made only one so far, but would love to try and make it better and better.
Maybe the sun and the moon are nice subjects, because then everyone has to come up with designs around it to make it interesting. It could give nice mystic effects since stars and clouds etc are probably used. Maybe it is also difficult though. (and maybe it makes people use a lot of black and dark blue to stain their faces, which is probably a downside )
Maybe ^_^ (lol I love mystical subjects) 'spirits' is cool, people can then come up with creative idea`s like how for example a forest spirit would look, a fire spirit,.. a sky, water or earth spirit. A dark spirit or whatever kind of spirits. It can be scary or non scary, cute and good for little girls as well as more serious for adults etc.
Ehm.. lets see.
Maybe spring is nice, its done before but since it is spring, there is a lot of possible inspiration outside. People could be challenged to really come up with some new things or different ways. Or the challenge could be made a bit different by adding Jugendstil or something, spring in jugendstil style. People could google examples of what it is if neccicary, and try to make a jugendstil spring design
Or something like .. I do not know the English word. Plants that climb up, like ivy and whatever kind that can climb up. Some really cool body and face designs can be made with that. With or without flowers, ofcourse with leaves and spiral shaped stuff or fruits.
I do not know anything anymore, all I can come up with now is 'coffee', with this picture in my mind of a cup filled with nice coffee and me sitting in the garden. (there is sun here today! jeeh!)
Edit: while making coffee I thought it might be nice to make a challenge with a specific species of flowers, like 'use poppies in your design' or another kind, poppies are problably quite difficult. Something like this would probably make people think outside of the box and really look at the kind of flower or plant they will use to make a fitting/possible design.
Edit 2: while drinking coffee I thought about trees. Probably best as bodypaint/tattoo paint, but also on the face trees can be used in a fun way. Like branches that come from the sides of the face that carry some apples or branches with blossoms. Or, possible a more scary kind of tree.
My post is becoming crazy long, I will stop now, I promise

Re: What Challenges would you like to see?
Zoo/Wild animals, but once an animal is done it can't be repeated(we don't want all tigers:-)
Re: What Challenges would you like to see?
Especially designs on the face - not just cheek ark. That is the fun in facepainting. Morphing it with the face, not "just" painting a design that could also be done on a flat surface.

Yes, I admit! The whole face and no cheek arts anymore!
Re: What Challenges would you like to see?
I'm in agreement with the tribals.
Also, how about something abstract? Kind of like automatic writing (idea stream) only with a paint brush. Like 'dreamscape' painting.
Also, how about masculine but not stereotypical paintings for boys (not cheek art so much)...it could be a break from the trucks, cars, and 'male' fantasy creatures.
Another cool thing would be a challenge that would require blatantly gender typed designs (like butterflies) to be reengineered to meet the needs of the opposite sex as far as design goes.

Re: What Challenges would you like to see?
What about hand art? Not henna but actually painting your hand to resemble something else (similar to the cell phone adverts).
Re: What Challenges would you like to see?
ummm... different full face multi colored scenes... Like these ideas that I have stolen from other people..... lol I love these face paints...

Suzy, Stealing isn't nice it is better to borrow on the no return policy.
Re: What Challenges would you like to see?
I would like to see a Hawaiian, hibiscus or tropical type theme.
I second or third the idea of no cheek art, at least on some of the challenges.... I love seeing the eye or mouth incorporated in a design.

Re: What Challenges would you like to see?
Just put them all on a list Metina, in the order they were given here, and work down the list. Then there is no choosing
Re: What Challenges would you like to see?
I would like to see a "tattoo" challenge. Incorporating traditional tattoo designs into unique looks.
I'm a HP fan, and a mask fan, and I have been working on Death Eater masks and would **love** to see what other people come up with.
Along with that, I would love to see a global mask challenge~ since everyone seems to base them around Mardis Gras and Masquerade.
I also think it would be really fun and cool to do a tarot theme. Whether or not you're into them, there are amazing ideas to be discovered in the titles of the cards alone.
These are all things that would work well, or could be adapted for, teens.

Re: What Challenges would you like to see?
Design using splits. Fairy tale characters. Video Game. Paint an emotion.
Re: What Challenges would you like to see?
How about Egyptian styles, Dr. Seuss characters, the anatomy of the part being painted (showing the muscles, veins etc...) tribute to 1940's to 1950's horror movie characters (swamp creature, werewolf, mummy,) tribute to to black and white films???? I'm sure I have more ideas, but will have to think about it for a bit.

You could also do something more specific, maybe using textures. Things like sea sponges (creating a pattern) anything that would make a pattern

Re: What Challenges would you like to see?
what's so wrong with cheek art? I mean I like full face as m8uch as the next painter, but what's wrong with painting arms and hands and such? Just my two cents...
Now for my four cents...
What about painted on Jewelry? Rings, necklaces, etc... That can go for both genders as well. Perhaps Mythical creatures? Like centaurs, merpeople, phoenixes, pegasus, cyclops, etc... for both full face or arms..
OH! or what about a Medieval/Rennaissance theme?
