Fix for melting Snazaroo Empty Fix for melting Snazaroo

I love my snaz paints, well all but their purples, but the one problem we all have with them is the melting. Well, I have the fix for this. I went and bought one of those cheap nylon sandwich bags and a couple small freezer packs. When I am going to be in the sun, or somewhere hot I keep them in there and pull them out as I need them.

It may be a little bit inconvenient; but it keeps them from turning to mud.

That is such a good idea. I have been hesitant at buying snaz because I live in Florida and it is usually between 85 and 105 degrees here. But your idea might just work. Now I am going to have to order some colors and try it out.

I'm Chicago, and in the summer it gets really humid here too. Not quite that hot, but the 90s are pretty normal. And since I started doing it I haven't had any problems with it melting. It can be a bit inconvenient to have to keep putting it away, but it beats having it melt. I imaging if I got a bigger cooler bag, or even a small plastic cooler it would be easier to deal with, but hey... it works.

I have a small plastic cooler that I think will be perfect. I can just pack it in my kit and put all of my new snaz in it. Thanks for the great idea.

On Clown Forum I believe I read that while some people kept their balloons in a cooler (I don't, but good idea!), others take those smaller ice packs, wrap them in a thin towel, and put them in with their balloons.

How about putting a couple of the gel packs or something on your table, and placing your palettes/pots directly on top? That would save you from putting away and taking them out all the time. Maybe?

HI Kristal

....I tried putting my paint on top of frozen plastic containers of "blue ice" that and it didn't work all that well...
I keep 2 pots of black & turquoise snaz (the other color that melts bad here) one in the 6-pack cooler and 1 on my table & switch them out periodically....and I'm in NC where it gets flippin' hot.......90-100 degrees + ridiculous humidity to boot.
(sometimes it feels like a sauna outside)
I also found that adding more water than you would normally works when you get gloppy paint works. You wouldn't think so, but it does.
After a super hot day, they do have to go into the fridge for awhile to come back to life! : )

I was thinking the same thing, Kristal! If you brought a few "flat" gel packs your pallette could sit right on top. You might have to change out the gel packs several times if it's a long event, but you could keep the extras in the cooler.

I might have to try that myself this summer.... or when the weather starts getting hot and humid in oh, about a month LOL!

I saw some of the little kids boo boo packs at the dollar store. They are round and 3-4" in diameter and not to thick and bulky. This might offer some help.

Fix for melting Snazaroo Empty Re: Fix for melting Snazaroo

I had that problem before i left the UK, and tried to use the thin flat re-freezable freezer blocks that came with my cooler.
IT DID NOT WORK.
What I found was that even in the UK, the condensation formed ON the paint surface when they were sat on the blocks, and just made the paints even mushier.

Even worse in Hong Kong with 80%+ humidity. Keeping paints in the fridge caused the same - as soon as they met warmer air= drops = goo.

Sadly I swapped out all but my few must have faves of Snaz and just have to put up with them being like stringy marshmallow goo most of the time.

I always did use a fair bit of Grimas so now most of my kit is that with some DFX (most of my body paint kit is DFX) and some Graftobian, etc. Paradise used to be fine in heat/ humidity but I had several bad batches of their metallics and then last month their navy did this between 2 gigs on the same day:
Fix for melting Snazaroo Its_so10

So that will not be bought again.

Best tip seems to be drying them out under a dehumidifier when possible.

That's why i have 2 blacks, 2 turquoises, & 2 split cakes of pinks & blues, and switch them in & out of the cooler, the ice blocks under the paint didn't work for me either. (see post above)
I have blocks of frozen blue ice in my cooler, the condensation doesn't seem to form in there.

Oh well..... I'm not looking forward to our July and August where we have 100 degrees with 100% humidity many days. You can't even breathe in that. But we don't have any outdoor festivals during that time of year, and most birthday parties are held indoors in the a/c or outdoors by a pool, where we'd only be doing glitter tats anyway.
