Melting and mixing paints
I have a bunch of almost finished cakes in various shades. I don't want to just mush all of the pinks together because there is a lot of variety in color. I'm wondering if anyone has ever tried melting, mixing, and re-potting paints so they end with one solid color. I know they will melt and mix, i'm just wondering what the end consistency will be like.

I had to do that with red and white to make pink for a rainbow cake since I didn't have any left. It was VERY messy, but it worked.... I just used my fingers and went to town! Then I squeezed it all back into an empty container and squished it up against the side so that I had the right height and width of the piece I needed and put it in the fridge to harder some. Had no issues with this.

Gloves *might* be a good idea to use... but I'm not sure if you might find yourself wasting more on the gloves than on your fingers. I found the consistency of the paint to be almost like caulking...

i have also had good results just mushing them together. you can also use a small spatula, butter knife, or back of a spoon, and "cream" them together until they are uniformly blended, like mixing cookie dough.
not sure about the melting idea, some ingredients might not re-solidify properly, but i'm just guessing.

Re: Melting and mixing paints
I have taken colors and put them in a plastic ziplock baggie and then sprayed them with water and mushed it around until it was the consistency of frosting. Then snipped the bottom corner and used it as a piping bag to smooth the color paste into the container. Let it dry out a few days and then it's ready to use like normal.
