1 inch brush bristles splitting?

Hiya, has anyone every had their 1in brush bristles split apart while painting? My Tag brush isn't very old and I clean it to keep the ferrule from getting clogged but lately my princess crowns have been spoilt by brush bristles suddenly splitting and leaving horrid gaps and smears
Has anyone had this happen? Is it me or my brush?

your paint may be too dry when you load the brush, try adding a bit more water to it. if that doesn't help, probably best to get another brush.
