My first attempt at a butterfly Empty My first attempt at a butterfly

Well here it is in all its glory. The antennae(sp?) should be uneven. Not the rest of it. In my defense I was having a major problem with my new brushes. When I load them and make a stroke the brush bends with the stroke and STAYS bent. New brushes, tap water, cheap Michaels face paint. Any ideas ? Feel free to laugh just don't post it for me to see. Loving my new Wimex head and "patch of skin" Very Happy Paint Passionately People !

Proud of you for posting your first, you did a good job Smile Sounds like the brushes your using are too soft, or perhaps the bristles are too long. Keep practicing and I'm glad you have the passion.

for a first attempt that is rather good, when i first started all i could paint was {}{ for the sign of a fish. for now all i can say is look at other ppls work, look at photos of butterflies and practice, practice, practice. some times the best lesson learned is when u are underfire. I love your color combinations and your line work, and don't be afraid to try a sponge, use a sponge to lay down the background color. if the brush stays bent after the stroke then you might need to rethink which brush to have. some brushes give better responce then others, i like to try them out onto the back of my hand, at the store, before i buy them to see if i like the way they resond to a 'stroke'. check out the thread about 'first starting out', and 'what is in you kit'. keep up the good work, and just make the world a more beautifull place, one face at a time.

I wish I had know about Wimmex before I bought my practice heard from Silly Farm. Not to be down on them, but they are EXACTLY the same heads. $15 from Wimmex, $40 from SF. You do the math.
