Things I LOVE about customers

I LOVE it when dad gets his face painted too.

I love it when grandpa or grandma gets there faces painted even more.

and I love it when they hand me a 20 and say keep it!

but I love love love that first or second time a kido has had there face painting and you hand them the mirror.

I also love that mirror moment.

I love it when they pay me right away instead of making me hunt them down when the party is over.

The mirror moment is the best!

I love it when grownups get painted.

I love hugs... can't get enough hugs.

But the mirror moment always makes me smile.

How about when the teenage boys want you to paint something on their bicep? Isn't that just too fun? I've painted mermaids and tinkerbells and stuff there... love it!

I luv when the little ones fall asleep in your chair and their chin is resting in your hand.

Just something about that pure trust a child has in you as a face painter. They wait in line for so long, just to see you. They sit quietly and paitiently as you paint them, because they want the painting to be perfect. With every flick of your brush or sponge, they become the character you change them into. Almost makes you feel like a super hero doesn't it?

I love it when someone gives me a big challenge, like today Yoda?!?, and they are so excited when you're painitng them and then bam they light up like a Christmas tree during the revel.

I love it when you can get the kid to act out the character... rawr!

I just luv it when a kid sits still, period. Or when a kid talks their parent into letting them get painted after the mom keeps saying no, and then the parent loves it just as much as the child.

THIS is why I fell in love with face painting! The pure joy when they see their face for the first time... there's no other feeling like it!

Plus I love it when the parents treat you like a person working HARD and offer to go get you food/ drink (not that I accept but its nice).

Ad i love the fact (most days)that i get paid to DO it.

Also does anyone else get the kids telling you things? Like you are a doctor or Santa or something But MUM I can tell HER shes a face painting FAIRY!!!!

KIDS ARE AWESOME and they are the reason why I do it

I love it when the kids' eyes get big, or they wiggle their eyebrows to make their monster scowl, or they open their mouth real wide to make their dinosaur roar and of course that little twinkle in their eye when they look at you and say 'Thank-you"...... that twinkle, you just can't paint!

It makes it harder to paint, but it's really funny when they try to watch the brush and go cross-eyed.

I love it when I get to paint a belly and mom is relaxing, it is a very special an intimate time we get to share. How many people really get to touch and help create magic with that special last few weeks of the pregnancy? And it is even better when the little one feels my hand on mom's tummy and rolls to where I am resting my hand. It is really cool to help make a beautiful time in life even more beautiful! And what about those mom's (I was one of them) who's bump isn't as perfect and round and pretty as others. I would have never had a picture of my last pregnancy belly except for when Shelley painted me, and then I couldn't wait to show everyone!! I love to give that gift to others.

I love how my regular customers tell me they've missed me when I have'nt been able to make my regular market gig. Ther'e a lovely bunch of kids, mostly other stall holders children and my other ones as well. I feel loved and makes for a nice day.

I love it when....
you get to the last kids in line, with your back aching, greet them by saying "Thank you so much for waiting so long!" and they say "No, Thank YOU"
When a little boy asks for the same butterfly mask as his sister and his dad without hesistation, says "Whatever you want Buddy"
When Nana waits for the kids to be done and asks for a princess crown and glitter tattoo

When I book a customer who tells me their friend ranted and raved about our painting and start to finish customer service skills

I love when the wiggley little ones get outta my chair.

I love when mom acknowledges that sweet little Johnny has a face full of snot and let;s me clean it before I paint.

I love the mirror moment when the kid looks in that mirror after painting your best ever.....and pouts and walks away without a thank you.

I love when the next little one in line is the sweetest thing you have ever met and are so amazing and appreciative and ....yep you get a hug and a huge smile and thank you.

I love when the mommies and daddies watch you paint their most precious loved one, big smiles and huge OMG's...and then tell you that little sweetie has ADHD and this is the first time their child actually sat still for more then 5 minutes at a time.

My all time favourite moment is when mommy and daddy watch with pride while their little one sit with anticipation and excitement waiting to see how you made them a princess or super hero.

OMG totally loving this thread! Brought such a smile to my face after a rough day.

I Love it when....

The child opens their eyes to look in the mirror and their face just lights up with a kind of life you can't capture even with a camera (and then keep wandering back to my booth to sneek peeks at their face throughout the day and that same look shows up)

You get children in your chair who actually have AMAZING manners and are so polite and so ADORABLE that you take extra special care to make their painting just that much more amazing, and they can't thank you enough, or they're so happy they don't say a thing (at least not with their voice, but the expression says it all)

You get a challenge and you have to improvise and you pull it off with flying colors and the model is almost more surprised than you are.

The WIGGLIEST kid in the world wants his/her painting on his/her hand and then sits perfectly still in your chair completely mesmerized from watching you and the parents are speechless because the only time they've seen their kid so still is when they sleep.

When the tough little boy wants a hear on his cheek or arm that has "Mommy" written in the middle.

When that adorable little girl who you pegged for being a kitty or a butterfly type of little girl asks for the spider or skull.

When a repeat customer pulls out the scrapbook and shows me how they put the pictures of my work from last year's birthday into the family scrapbook.

Finally, I love when people tell me how much they enjoy my work and how they follow me around to the various festivals JUST so I can paint their kids' faces.

Yes, yes, yes!! Something similar that I forgot...I love when I paint at the residential school for autistic kids (only FP they ever called back for a 2nd year) and the parents come to talk to me at the end of the event to say thank you for picking up on and working through:
-their child's extreme touch sensitivity
-uncontrolled tics
-grabbing at my hand while painting
-constant talking
-unexpected outbursts
....with patience and a smile because I know they really want to get painted and talk about great mirror moments!
