Brushes that won't fall apart!?!

I need some brushes that won't fall apart on me after only 10 hours of use. (not all at once) My rounds have developed massive stray hairs. What brand would be suitable for the main round workhorses? I tried the Artist's loft initially and then moved on the Royal (not the soft grip ones if there is a difference)

Considering your list, I would say go with the Loew-Cornell or Donna Dewberry ones. I have some of both of those brands and they are by far the best ones in my kit. About once every six months, I dip the bristles into boiling water for a couple of seconds and they are back to their original shape.

However, I would also suggest to go to the top of this page where the "Face Paint Forum shop" button is and purchase a couple of the Loew Cornell yellow handle brushes to try. These are IMO the absolute best ones for rounds.

I'm a fan of Lisa, but I had never seen that video before.... I'm actually feeling a little set down and disappointed after watching it to be honest.

Properly Washing Your Sponges And Brushes

for rinsing off brushes at home, i hold the brush bristles under lukewarm running water. i tap the brush against my palm while it's under the water, turning it over several times, to loosen the paint.

the running water is effective in washing it away, and when it runs clear, i'm good to go.  i do not use soap, to avoid residue.

i shape the bristles with my clean fingers, put them in a cup with bristles up, and let them air dry.  after they dry, you can dip in 70% alcohol to disinfect, and let them dry again.

Thank you Ash ^.^ I'm glad it's gaining steam. Many people on the form told me i should write a book with all my super long helpful posts, so i did the next best thing.

Jlirie if you dip in iso after water wash/rinse with soap, then rinse again after the iso you don't have worry much about residue. I use hand soap not dish soap as you don't need a very high sorberant content to remove the paint, and it's gentler on your brush.

Another thing i forgot to mention was I clean my brushes with makeup remover after a few gigs when i do my kit 'deep clean'. This REALLY gets all the paint out better then anything (does zip for disinfection tho). It's expensive, which is why i only do it when i do a deep clean - which is WAY more intense then my regular kit clean of course.
