How to mix up paint?
Hey guys,
I'm new here. I'm getting ready to do my first full body painting. I'm a mixed media artist so this is out of my realm. but i've been practicing and i'm excited,.
My question is with mixing. I'm using Mehron Paradise cake paints. I know you can mix small quantities on top of the cake and just wipe it off, but wheat if i'm paint a large area and I need a lot of a special mixed color? How do I do it? Do I have to cut the cake into a cup and mix it that way/
Thanks for your help
Brandon

Re: How to mix up paint?
If they don't have the shade you want, and you really really want it-- I would personally do it with a mortar & pestle, mix well & then spritz some water on it & press it back into the cake containers...(of course, watch your measurements in case you need to make more...)

Freezer bag and a heavy rolling pin.
Put colors in bag and roll till 1/8"
Fold paint over its self and roll again
Replete till all color is combined
I have done this a few times. I made a purple and a teal this way.
Edit to add
The paint will become tacky and you just cut the corner of the bag and squeeze it into the container you want. Give it a few hours-a day to set back up and you are off and painting.
One last edit to add pic
These were made using snaz red, yellow, blue, and a bit of white.

Re: How to mix up paint?
Kryolan will make custom aquacolors for you.
Otherwise, I will mix as I go for body painting, or I will take half of the cake out and add the second color to the pot and apply with a long-handled kabuki so I'm mixing as I'm picking up the color on the brush.
