BANNERS please help Empty BANNERS please help

Post by saloner Mon Apr 21, 2014 6:05 pm

I have a question for anyone that uses or has used a vinyl BANNERS. I have a grid wall (metal like in stores) I ordered a banner so I could affix it to the grid walls for home parties or picnics. Well, I store it rolled up in the tube that it came in, I have used it twice (indoors). It has a diagonal "sag" from left to right the right ending slightly lower than the left side. It is extremely visible. I bought it from Costco. when I took it back to be re - done he gave me some excuse that the humidity can cause sagging. I brought it all hanging up like it was for my gig. I looked at him and asked him if he felt it was professional. He just said it was normal. He measured it and it wasn't even, he felt due to the sewing, but the other was 1/16 " and that that wasn't enough to concern. I then went to the supervisor and she told me she got a vinyl and it was the worst thing she ever did. Said that they were very unstable. This doesn't sound right to me because anyone that does festivals does vinyl banners. Please tell me your experiences
When I was speaking to the supervisor, I had layed the banner down, while we were talking I asked her if she couldn't see the "sag" in the fabric, she said she could. I am concerned if it sags like this in two indoor settings, what the hell will it look like after two mid summer outdoor picnic parties? Is banners not the right choice?

they are stalling, they said they have to first see who is going to pay for another one. I told him I wasn't cuz I already paid for it. I brought two of the three back. the second one he said it was only 16th of an inch off and it wouldn't be accepted back. I am so upset I paid $115 each . Where do you order yours from?

well obviously Costco isn't good at doing it, or I should say, their vender that they use. Where did you get your banner, it looks really nice.
Oh, another question I have for you....on the smaller one that you used PVC pipe...did you put sand in it? Do you dismantle it?

On the big banner I see it is not at the edge of the tent so I am assuming it is 8X3?
Thank you for getting back to me.
I paid $115 for each of my banners (lots of pictures)

I took a picture of the grid wall and the banner But I don't know how to attach it here. I had it all attached when I brought it back to Costco, so they could see how it looked, he took it down to discuss it with their vendor, but only one of them cuz he said that other one was on 16th of an inch off.
Can you guide me on how you built the PVC pipe frame? This is my second year doing festivals or rather in June it will be my second year.

Hi Saloner,
If it helps, we got our banner online, from a place called "Banners on the Cheap". http://www.bannersonthecheap.com/
The banner is nice and heavy (thick), and it turned out very, very nice! Despite their name, they did a very good job on it. You can choose indoor or outdoor, grommets or no grommets, etc.

I don't have sand in the PVC frame. I dismantle it when it is stored, and usually attach it to a tent leg.
I had my banners made through AlphaGraphics Middleton, in Wisconsin. The franchise owner is my dad, and his graphic designer designed all of my materials. They all match, because the look is my brand.
I'll see if I can find the thread on the PVC stand...

Looks like the thread no longer exists. It used to be called Ask Lauri about her banner stands.
Used to be able to find it in the old newsletters, but when you click on the link, I get a message that the forum I selected no longer exists. Weird.

On my right, it was a poster saying that 30% of my proceeds went to the United Way charities that were benefiting from the event that weekend.
On the right, looking at the photo, is a sign saying that I do parties, with my phone number, and another sign saying that I will take pictures and post them on Facebook, if the parents want me to, so they can have access to them.

Hey Diane... that's interesting; your Facebook idea! Then the folks have to "Friend" or "Like" you, in order to access the photos you took, don't they? Do you generally have many people taking you up on that offer?

Mark,
I only post those pics to my business page, which encourages people to "like" my page. But it's a public page, so anyone has access to them.
Honestly, I found that I don't take the time to snap photos, and don't offer it as an option anymore. I always forget to take pics, unless I don't have a line, and the face came out particularly great. Or if the child is a ham and I just want to. I always ask permission before I photograph anyone, though.
Once upon a time I set up a photo booth corner in my tent, but it was a pain to schlep all that stuff around and it was in the way, people didn't just move on so I could keep painting, and I took it out.

Post by saloner Thu Apr 24, 2014 10:12 am

so here is my question....is it really necessary for a models release? As a medical assistant, we were taught that if a patient holds out their arm for a blood draw that they are non verbally giving their consent for me to take the blood, isn't this the same thing, if I get a picture and they are sitting in my chair that I have their consent? I know I know we are talking about minors...but who is to say the parent wasn't there?

I would say it depends upon what you are using the photos for. I don't post any pictures on my website without written parental consent.
I don't mind posting pics on my facebook page of kids I take casually, and get verbal consent for.

Haunted house 62. Apparatly they no longer do banners. Even they said that if I had questions to email them at service@bannersonthecheap.com but the email doesn't support it.
