How to manage your social media usage
Hey guys, I am curious to know how much time that you devote to social media in general? How much is purely business and how much is personal time but with business acquaintances like other face painters? Also, does anyone have any great tips to share on getting better exposure with social media? Thanks!
Re: How to manage your social media usage
Due to a legal matter years ago, a lawyer involved advised us to not use any social media. I have my website--and I will occasionally stalk my daughters' FB on their phones--but honestly, I am very thankful to no longer be on FB, etc. (Has saved me tons of time.) I do have a website up for clients to refer to.

Hi Anniel - Not probing here (would never!). But if you can/are comfortable sharing in a vague and roundabout way, it would be interesting to know why Facebook use/etc. could cause problems. Again, if this would be asking something you can't divulge, then just ignore this! Or send a smiley face icon and then ignore this!

A lot of times it is due to stalkers, evil exes, etc. Better to leave it.

Well.... I spend WAY too much time on here, but U'm glad I do because it keeps my mind in the game, and thinking about my business. I love reading old articles and seeing tips and tricks. I have gleaned so many just from reading old threads that it's well worth the time.
As for face book, ha, i don't spend enough time on my business page I feel. I see it kind of like a chore to be honest. Some times I'll just spend a few hours writing pre written posts to be automatically posted in days, weeks, or months from now. I sit down, spend a day doing that, and then I don't have to constantly have it take up my time.

I never really thought about any legal implications! That is something to consider. On our policies list I place that we can take pictures unless they request us not to do so. I have had a few clients that were more affluent to not want public pictures. Just people like local political people, Drs etc. because they obviously want their privacy and no stalkers. I'm terrible about remembering to take pictures most of the time though.
I also find that I have a hard time remembering to update my business pages. I go up and down on it. I do like the personal interaction with other face painters though. It keeps me inspired and motivated to talk with like minded people.
I am trying to figure out how to juggle it all because so much is available to be part of. I also decided to go back to school and I started this Spring right when work gets into full action. I just have to consider what is the best use of my time. More hours a day would be good
