Completely new website
I've completely recreated my website using a new program. Did it from scratch all by myself. Yahoo Small Business, which is my host, has software called SiteBuilder which I downloaded to my computer and then I created the whole site on my computer and then uploaded it when I was happy with it.
My old resources pages that I shared have been replaced by a page on my new site - it has the same html address so if any of you saved the link to the page it should still work. But the page is now visible on my site for everyone to see.
This new site is only six pages and combines the different services I offer rather than a page for each of them.
The only issue is that by uploading new pages and deleting the old ones I've lost my status on the search engines...
I would be very appreciative if you could have a look at my page and thus help me get my site back up to the top of page one for my area... and let me know what you think of it.
Thanks! The link is below!

Re: Completely new website
Looks Great! Like it much more than the other... Love the pics along the side, really displays your talent.
Re: Completely new website
Thanks.
I like the margin photos too, it eliminated the need for galleries or other pages. Viewers will see samples of different things while checking the main pages.
There are still a few things I would like to add but need to figure out how to do them.

Dear Shannon Fennell:
I really love you new website. Graphically pleasing to the eye. Easy to navigate. Easy to load.
Just one observation...
Shouldn't you state Award-Winning Make-Up Artist in the first paragraph, instead of Make-Up Artist?
xoxo

Re: Completely new website
I have been looking into you small business myself. Glad you posted, that way I could browse around a real page made with their builder.
Re: Completely new website
Shannon, if you have access to the old site, make pages that have the same name as the old pages on your new liste (The file name that is.) This way, any engines that have those pages stored, will still index then and then find your new pages.
so like, if the OLD site had a page called: http://www.shannonfennell.com/aboutme.html then, that's fine since the new one has a page by the same name.
If the old site had a page: http://www.shannonfennell.com/dancing_on_a_table.html and the new one does not, make a page saved with that same name, and even if HUMANS can't get there via a link, the search engines will, and will find and index the new home page.
Hope that makes sense.

Re: Completely new website
Ah... Two pages have the same name, the rest are different...
But if I create a blank page with an old html address won't the bots know there is nothing on it? And when people go there they won't find anything?
The main issue is that my old facepainting .html file was the one that came up on the searches, I no longer have a face painting page per se. So need to get my main page (which has existed for nine years) to be the one that pops up.

Re: Completely new website
Looks good Shannon! I love Yahoo Business site solution, so easy. Only thing I saw (and I don't know if this was my browser, but it didn't happen anywhere else) is that the words "General Booking Information" was pasted over the second line of the Instruction & Workshops info, so that it was double writing. I would have taken a pic but I can't seem to post pics lately. Just check that out
Re: Completely new website
You make a page based on your new template that says: This page has moved, please visit out home page and then link there.
It's only for bots and anyone who has the link saved. In time, the bots will point to the new pages. But it isn;t like starting over.

Doesn't show in my browsers? Next time I edit I'll shift it a bit.
