question? holiday designs only?

Hey. I was just wondering what most do during holidays. Do you have holiday selections and regular selections or just focus on the holiday designs?

All normal designs, plus a Christmas selection.

Plus, if I remember, I strive to paint jaunty Santa caps on the foreheads.

I also have special gold holly leaves and silver snowflake jewels I accidentally bought many years ago...and now, I LOVE them.

ever since i got my snowflake stencil, EVERY design is potentially winter.

i just switch to blue and white colors, or red and green designs...or gold and silver...

or i keep it the regular colors, and stamp on some snowflakes and wispy snow lines.

I do have Christmas design together with regular one, but because is the season I paint my face with some Holy. Children love the snow man one.

i had to do a gig yesterday of ONLY holiday designs....
never had a group so disapointed-they liked the designs after i was done, but man, they had some sad sad faces after i had to tell them only holiday designs...
so hard painting a frowning face....i was glad they smiled in the mirror but that really made me sad.


in the future, if a kid asks for something and it isn't holiday related, i will make it holiday anyways, by putting it in a stocking, or giving it a santa hat, or adding a bunch of candycanes or other wintery stuff to it.

Today I brought holiday designs and regulars, and found that so many more went for the holiday designs when I featured them front and center on my display. Which I'm glad about, because they're cute and it WAS a holiday party. That said, there was, of course, the requisite dude of webs, and the man of the pointy black mask. I don't add any "Santa" to those, or I could wind up in trouble with the Commander of the Superheroes, or whoever runs LittleBoyLand.

oh, my most requested face was batman, spiderman, and the jack from nightmare before christmas....

i put snow on the points of the batman, and added candy canes and pepperment stars to the spiderman-two options i saw here on the forum.
they were loving it!

I did a Christmas Frankenstein today, and my first grinch.

Many events that don't know much about face painting think that you will need nothing but faces specific to their event, ie just Christmas designs or just clown designs at a circus etc.

It has been my experience that most of the time the kids don't care what the event is, they want to be cats and butterflys etc. We just assure the event coordinator that we will provide event specific designs while we also use some of the standard faces that kids expect.

How would you simple down the grench?

Here's my grinch. A loop for the apples of the cheeks, little scrunch on the nose, bushy eyebrows and girly eye lashes and a Santa hat. I used dark green for the thin lips and a dog nose.

Here's my few I did last week..any ideas how to make the ornament one better..

Omg I am in love with the sprinkle lips! So cool!!! I would try painting a weaving string of garland, some swirls, or even just a green base before adding in the bulbs. The bulbs themselves are great, it just feels like there is something missing. The teardrops and swirls around the eyes are fantastic on the bottom one, and your star placement is perfect (I am never happy with mine)

I am painting at our local womens crisis shelter and needed to get a holiday board made up.  Thank you everyone for the inspiration.

Love the candy sprinkle lips too! I think they are all cute and the pointsetta is stunning...nice work.

Thank you , Veelux. I have a peactice head to use, but it got stained from a tag split cake and has a green snake faintly painted on it. Hopefuly the kiddies will like the designs and overlook the arm painting.

Those are all really cute designs... That's why I was wondering to offer both because you work hard on holiday designs and then they all pick hello kitty or spiderman. Yeah, you can Christmas them up, but still have all the cute Christmas designs not being chosen.
