Hi from Indiana
I'm excited about all the information shared here. I've been coerced into face painting ever since my kids were in elementary school in California (over 20 years ago). I love it but have felt so inadequate since they just would stick me in the middle of it with gooey dollar store paints, more faces than I could count and no direction. I finally decided that if I'm going to do this, I'm going to do it on my terms, with my paints.
For me, it is a ministry. My church in Lafayette has adopted a public school that was failing. We have invested heavily involved in "Read to Succeed," providing meals, lunchtime help, etc. We staff carnivals, vbs and other special events for these children, many of whom come from very disfunctional families. The school has quickly risen in its test scores as a result of the dedicated teachers and our ongoing care and encouragement.
Face painting, is my small contribution to these children's future. It doesn't take a lot of skill to bring a smile to their faces... just a lot of love.
It is very good to meet all of you... Especially Miss Yoko who is quickly becoming my pseudo-mentor... I have got to make me a cyperlox headpiece!

Welcome, Margaret Rose. What a wonderful ministry you all have.
Miss Yoko was one of the first artists that I came across on the internet when I first started. Love her work and she made it look like so much fun it only fueled my flame to try harder and get better.
