Dear fourakes:
The Face Paint Forum Shop (the colourful rectangle that is at the head of this page) is what pays for us to have this Forum to chat about things. It is good manners to discuss the items sold in the Face Paint Forum Shop, like Mehron's INtense pressed powders sold in palettes of Wind, Earth, Fire, etcetera.
Denise Cold is a big promoter of Paradise StarBlends. Denise works MAGIC with the StarBlends. StarBlends are also sold in the Forum shop.
If there is an item that you would like to see being sold in the Forum shop, contact Metina directly.
Happy Painting!

Re: Vibrant Pressed Face Powders Palette by JestPaint
Excuse me fesspenter but that is a bit rude. This is a forum and whilst it is associated with its very own shop I dont think that anyone who asks a questions about products that are available from other places should be shut down. To be perfectly honest having a forum to promote a business is far from a new concept in Advertising... And whether or not you have a personal friendship with the shop owner shouldn't change the fact that ultimately its just another advertising gimmick and no one on this forum OWES any sort of loyalty to the advertiser. It was a perfectly reasonable question for Fourakes to ask... If you have an opinion about a product that would suit her better than Vibrant Pressed Face Powders then by all means go ahead and recommend it, you may even point out that the product you recommend is available from the associated shop, but to tell people that they may not freely speak about products not available from the fpf store is ridiculous, goes against the concept of freedom of speech AND has the added side effect of alienating people from other countries that may be part of this forum...

Nope. Fessy is right. And it's also not good manners to come on a forum and use your first post to chastise a long-time member when she is helping a newbie learn forum etiquette.
There are plenty of places where is doesn't rub people the wrong way, to post the question the OP posted.
Just saying.

I would like to point out that just because I am not a regular poster, does not mean I am new... Nor for that matter is the OP. This is also not my first account as I lost the login details for my origional account. And nope, my points were and are still valid.

Re: Vibrant Pressed Face Powders Palette by JestPaint
I did think fourakes was asking a reasonable question. I just wanted to let her know the etiquette regarding this Forum.
This Forum is NOT free speech.
This Forum is PAID for by the Forum's Face Paint Shop.
I do not know the answer to the original question, as I have not purchased JestPaint's powder palette. It appears to be similar to the FPFS's offering. If there is a product that the FPFS does NOT sell, like Colloidal Scarring Effects....discuss, compare. There are so many subjects to freely discuss here. This is where I come to for help on techniques. And, I must admit to here, outloud, I truly enjoy silliness. I don't know if anyone else here knows that about me.
I do not have a personal relationship with the owner of this Forum's shop. I am a happy client. What I love the most is this Forum! Denise Cold is a Moderator here, and does not own this Forum. I deeply admire Denise's YouTube videos, and I finally met her in September of 2013 at Pashur's Syracuse, New York Face and Body Painting Classes. I am in awe of Denise Cold.
When I type on this Forum, there is no font to express meaning, or nuances of emotion. When I type, it is from a place of kindness. I suppose I could learn how to use those teeny little emoticons to help me express my happiness. I was not trying to be rude. I was only pointing out etiquette.
Happy Painting!

I understand that you are not "new" in the sense that your join date is April of 2012. I also see that the OP joined in 2011. Obviously that is not "new" as far as how long you've been members.
But when someone asks a question that goes against forum decorum (see what I did there? That was meant to be playful. It happens here a lot.), we who have been lurking here for a long time, and have had thousands of posts, know better and try to steer "newbies" in the right direction.
If you are not new, because you used to have a different log in name, welcome back!
But I would have thought that you'd not only know the unspoken "rule", but the fun-filled Fessy, who spelled it out.
Furthermore, hopping in to the introduction page and saying "Hey! I used to be So-and-So, but I forgot my login and had to create a new username, but I'm back!" would be a great way for those of us who have been here since dirt was considered an accessory, to recognize you.
As it is, it seems like you just wandered into a room full of people who have been chatting for years, and told one of the most popular chicks that she is mean.
Bad form, and won't gain yourself many friends.

First of all: I think everyone just tried to help here, and I don't mean to criticize anybody. And since i just joined, I should probably just keep my mouth shut...
I'm confused... I've been a member for a very short time, but I've seen people here talking about FAB paints all the time. There are brands in the FPF shop that compares to FAB, surely?
And quoting Metina:
"This is a place to post a review if you have experience with a product or request one if you are thinking about a purchase. ANY product in the face painting relm, books, videos, paint, glitter, stencils, classes, conferences ect... is farm game"
http://www.facepaintforum.com/t1231-please-read-first-before-posting
I'm the admin of another forum (not FP related), and I found out that it's best that moderators deal with etiquette and forum rules, for misunderstandings not to appear. So if we see something that we think is violating the rules, I suggest we ask a moderator before we try to help. Or let the moderator deal with it.
Because even if there are rules, people have different understanding of them.

Re: Vibrant Pressed Face Powders Palette by JestPaint
FAB paints are discussed, not specific stores that sell them, and they are available from a number of other online places.
The original question was for a product that is available exclusively from a competing store.
I'd say that's the difference.
To answer the OP's question, I have the product in question. It is much smaller than I expected, although I watched a video demonstration. I don't find them user friendly at all, and can barely even open the case. The little pots of color are not much larger in diameter than a sponge lolipop, which can be bought from this Forum Shop. I find this aggravating when trying to load.
Thus, they have been relegated to a drawer in my kit and don't find their way out at gigs. I will likely give it away to my secret Santa person, in the hopes that they will find more use for it than I have found.

Ps, Tone, I really like your avatar. How long have you been face painting?
Re: Vibrant Pressed Face Powders Palette by JestPaint
Disclaimer: I do NOT personally know Fesspenter (or Metina.)
I have never seen her EVER speak rudely to anyone on the forum. She has always gone out of her way to be helpful to me and others. I've found much helpful information she has written, that obviously took her a good deal of time to write to share knowledge she has. She is especially kind to newbies and helps them know their way around the here. And anyone who has been on the forum more than a few days knows that....and that she has an incredible sense of humor.
Many people (including myself when I first got on the forum) don't seem to notice the "Face Paint Forum Shop" banner up there. And some do not know who hosts this and how it is paid for.
It may sound pedantic, but putting the name of the other shop in the title of the thread is what is different, to me, about this than the others asking about products. Just my opinion.

Re: Vibrant Pressed Face Powders Palette by JestPaint
I read this thread with interest...
Perhaps not in this specific case (as the product in question is only sold through one store), but generally speaking I can see an advantage to the FPFS if members here are free to discuss products not sold through forum shop. Surely if people in the forums are raving about a product they bought elsewhere it serves as a 'heads up' to Metina that it might be a good item to stock in the FPFS. How better to keep a finger on the pulse?

Re: Vibrant Pressed Face Powders Palette by JestPaint
I really love Ben Nye Lumiere. Like paints some of the colors are better than others. These are my favorites: Azalea, aztec gold, cosmic blue, ice, peacock, starry night, and chartreause green.
Re: Vibrant Pressed Face Powders Palette by JestPaint
this is one thing that I hate about forums. If one makes a comment then it becomes a ghetto mob scene. I don't think that the owners of his forum "care" if you are asking about a product that they don't carry. I own a salon and I don't carry all products out there. I would welcome product usage comments, this would help save me from dead retail. In the beauty industry the mfg chooses which stores will carry their products, so the salon owners are forced to go to different stores to get their inventory.
In saying all of this, I personally hate that when I need a fp product, I have to spend hours going to all the different online stores just to find out that they either don't carry what I want or the constant "out of stock" response. I hate being forced to pay so much extra in s/h just because I have to go to several houses to get my basic supplies.
If I understand correctly, this is what a mediator is all about....to take care of these issues....
I am not being naughty nor am I trying to insult or ruffle anyone's feathers just voicing my thoughts .

Re: Vibrant Pressed Face Powders Palette by JestPaint
I have The pallet in question and did spent a good amt on it do I need it? not really would I buy it again....? probably not but I am partial to the Magenta, but they are rather small and I really only use it to accentuate or brighten my starblends that I love and cannot live without. I would love to try Ben Nye. but I need to use up some of the products that I already have. In all honesty I but from all over and I bet most of us do just be careful using other shops site names in your title right??? at least I think that's the lesson from this.
Re: Vibrant Pressed Face Powders Palette by JestPaint
the new face: gee I only use the star blends for my spiderman on the boys.....I haven't thought of them for anything else. Tell me, what else do you use them on? I can't imaging them blending like that on a sponge. Please tell me how you use them. I will skip over to your web and see. Thanking you in advance.
Re: Vibrant Pressed Face Powders Palette by JestPaint
apparently you no longer have your website or just not for the winter. Do you have a Facebook business account? I would love to see some of the blending capabilities.
Re: Vibrant Pressed Face Powders Palette by JestPaint
it should work now www.anewfacenikkiwalters.wix.com/anewface
I use starblends for a lot.. all the white on my cats, skulls, Dalmatians. For most animal designs as a base. I never leave home without them.

Re: Vibrant Pressed Face Powders Palette by JestPaint
There is a Facebook group called Starblends Creations - Starblends can be used for MOST designs. I use them for skulls, tigers, dogs .... almost everything if I have the color I want as a base.
Re: Vibrant Pressed Face Powders Palette by JestPaint
I just bought the Ben Nye luminere powders....OMG I hate spending that much money on one item....but you know that I am just shak'n cuz I can't wait to get the order. I'm assuming they are tiny containers....so that will leave me with just adding to add depth. I really want to get the gem powders. I watch mama clown on Faba tv and she says the lumere is the same just pressed as opposed to the loose powder. You know what it is like outside during festival weather when it is too windy...so I took a chance. I know that I will love it. Thanks guys for all your advice.
