First Festival
Thank you so much to everybody and the wonderful information posted in this forum. i would have never attempted nor been able to dear a festival. It was an amazing experience and loved every minute of it. I am also very grateful to my husband that help me in all the set up and packing and my daughter the line manager.
Miss Ronnie it is true!!! The face painting fairy helped me not to feel the need of the restroom.
Thank you all again! what a happiness in the faces of the children's. I wish i had taken the forms as per Shannon advise and got some pictures.
Thank you Perry Noia for the informations on the banners i order one and split it as per your advise. I have not yet order the one for the inside tend.
PS yes Monna that was your fat max in the picture.
I love you all

Re: First Festival
wow.. YOU set up is fantastic. Paola! love it all... love your picture display too. Did you have the kids tell you what they wanted painted on their faces...like butterfly, batman, tiger..like that? Love your banner too... that i still need to get. What do you mean by split it?
and yes, I saw the FatMax that i painted...it is no longer mine it is yours...and it looked great sitting there!!!!as
for picture taking ...i just take pictures.. no form as yet. have not seen the need yet..but i live in a very small community!... i have said if anyone doesn't want their painted kid on my facebook/nanamonna page just let me know and i will take it off...have not had that happen yet. i take pictures of EVERY kid painted (unless for some reason i get to talking and forget... which forgetting hasn't been much )... anyway i take a picture of each ...That is my count of how many faces i have painted!!!
I know i need new brushes... my lines are not looking too good lately..and i need wolf black ..i am out...
AGAIN love your tent!!!!! Did you post it on another post with other tent set ups...they would love to see it!!!!

Re: First Festival
Yay! Congratulations, your setup looks great. Wonderful that your hubby and daughter are involved. I am trying to talk my daughter into being a line manager for me, but she doesn't like the idea of getting out of bed early on her only day to sleep in.. I like the idea of having your daughter set up at the front of the tent, her little table looks like it would stop people crowding in the tent, did it?
Again, congrats .
Again, congrats .

Re: First Festival
Thank you Monna,
Immagine the banners one on top of the other, same length. I wrote SunGlow Face Painting twice and set up the pictures calculating where i would cut. Bend the Banner in half along the width and cut it. That is how i got two banners ordering one.
if you order a large size, the width is too wide to hang on the tend. Like Perry said you could make two and use them one on the front and the other on the side. for me it was useless to set one on the side as my neighbors were too close so i hanged it inside.
I ordered it from Vistaprint, waited for the 50% discount and free shipping.
For me i pasted the pictures in a 8x10 size powerpoint presentation by girls and boys and by prices and converted in big pictures then printed them and point them out to the kids to see what they wanted.
i did an extra set for my daughter which she kept in the front in case people would need more clarifications.
Thank you Silversky! Yes having my daughter on the front help a lot. She also took the money and made good tips! they all loved her charming and chatty talk. She made them feel welcome. She greeted them and explained how the board worked and ask which one they liked! She was terrific. I also paid her. Unfortunately she did not let me paint her.
We had people trying to get painted up until 5:00 which was the closing time. We absolutely had to close by that time as we only had 35 minutes to clear out.
I was so happy i did not feel hungry at all, only had a hot dog during the whole day.

Re: First Festival
sounds great. i know i go without bathroom breaks (which probably isn't a good thing but...) and without eating too... as i have been raised in restaurants AND food trailers...lol... but now i paint! will check out your info on the banner...as i need to do something...i just haven't decide what yet. .. and keep trying to figure a good way for pictures without using a book and lots of pictures. Trying to figure out something with a list..and just a few examples.. that will stay up and not blow over etc. i think i have it figured out..and will post it later!!! thanks for the info!!!
Re: First Festival

Re: First Festival
Great, great setup! Looks very professional and tidy.
I love the split banner idea! I think I may do that, because I need a couple extra banners for the back and side. Some events I have an end-of-the-row position, and I'd like to put something on the side. And sometimes my back is exposed and I'd like something there, too.
May I ask what you used to anchor your tent?
My family is involved, too. Daughter does glitter tattoos, son does balloon twisting, and hubby is my line manager/set-up/break-down guru. It's a family affair!

Re: First Festival
I love the huggy pillow in your director's chair!
Brilliant, and keeps little kiddos from falling out the back of the chair.
I use throw pillows to push the children closer to me in the chair, or to raise them up higher, or to make a ramp to lay them down and paint them from behind, upside down, in the case of squiggly, wriggly Spidey-Guys.
xoxo

Re: First Festival
Thank you Diane!
My husband had the brilliant idea to purchase Universal Weight Plates from Quick Shade. They are so heavy and keep the tend study.
I felt so good to have them all involved!
Thank you Lisa,
i used to have a pillow at the back too, but it kept sliding off and the children would sit too far from me, resulting in a back pain and the smallest one i was never sure if they would fall with the pillow. My friend had this idea so i checked amazon and order one of them pillow. It is very firm and i love it. i take it off for the big children and the little one sit very comfortably in it pushing them toward me. The ones that are even smaller lie their head on it too and i can paint them without them moving.
