I landed a really nice gig at an arena for various events... it is going thru an agent...I dont really work with an agent but I took the job...I asked them why they picked me out of the blue and the man said:"When I looked at various websites you did not have multiple pictures of yourself painted as a princess." I was like OKaaa....He said they run by strict guidelines and forwarded a copy to me....
**. Must wear black shirt..they will provide the standard shirt..I am guess it will ID me as a face painter. We can wear jeans. not faded, no rips or holes, dark in color only. No flip flops.
(I dont have an issue with that)

** Here is one___No goofy hats, flowers, aprons, or anything that makes you look like a clown. You are hired to paint faces not be a clown. If you want to be a clown call Trudy in the Clown division. I actually chuckled at that one no offense to the clowns here...They have a CLOWN division..I just picture a bunch of clowns in an office ahh Clowning around...maybe a small mini car with clowns just coming out....heheh I gotta stop.

** Will compensate for personal face painting kits (I thought nice and generous) or we can borrow the company's (must sign a release form for contents of kits).

** Make sure your vehicle is not dirty....mmm that I didn't see that one coming....please make sure it is not dirt covered and freshly washed....really was speechless ( I was taught to wash your car every Saturday morning and in the winter if you have get a bucket of water and rinse the salt off ..I Got It! Although my sister would be upset at that one...he car gets the once only during holidays eeww)

**. No smoking, gum chewing, candy or eating at the venue..and especially no alcohol even after your shift. Water bottle is acceptable...gee thanks. Now we are getting a break every two hours for 10 mins.

**. Please eat before you show up not during.

** If your on time...your late....start time 1130am.....be there 1100am...Ok I do agree.

** NO tip jars....if caught putting out a tip jar you will be suspended immediately. Absolutely never hand out your business card...if we find you are using your own business cards at our job sites...you will never work again with our company...

Thank You and Happy Painting... hehehe Nice touch Happy Painting...

Must sign the bottom of the rules and return it to Agent before your event without it we will book someone else.

Ok there is more ...but not to bore ya.....has anyone ran into such guidelines..?

I am a former US Navy Veteran....I can follow rules to the "T" ...I get it....but this was new to me. I agree with alot of the rules but didn't expect it.

Seems pretty standard to me. And unfortunately you do have to spell things out for people.

I thought it was kinda funny that these are actual rules and not just standard common sense...I am still laughing over the Clown thing....

I think is just a matter of style

However when I though about starting to get some money for painting I tough about a costume and so on, but because at the moment I did not have enough money to get the accessories that I wanted for my costume I just got a black Polo with my logo printed on it; so now my facepainting outfit is a black pants, black polo with my logo and I have being surprised about the comments of my professional look, on top of that when I have and event, I have to have my hair done and make up (I am used to wear it as a personal style).

I was raised whit the phrase "The people treat you the way you look" and is so true!

^ I prefer the all-black look too. Looks like you take it seriously, and then others take you seriously.
