Gig this weekend - some good, some not so good Empty Gig this weekend - some good, some not so good

Post by Heather Mon Jul 27, 2009 9:46 am

Had my first venture back into the world of face and body art this weekend, and I had a great time. The event was set to run Friday, Sat, and Sunday from 11-10, 11-10, and 11-8, but I only ended up working Friday and Sunday because of a HUGE string of storms across Ohio all day Saturday. The skies cleared up around 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, but by the time I would have gotten to the festival site, and set up, it wouldn't really have been worth it as I would have only been able to get in 3 hours of painting, and not many people ventured out for fear of more storms. Besides, taking Saturday off meant I got to spend the day with my new uber-adorable niece. Smile

Only made about $650 for the weekend (boo - could have made double that if I'd been able to work Saturday, though, laughably, that's more than I would make in the same amount of time at my current legal job ::shakes fist at the economy:Smile, but that was enough to cover all of my new face painting and glitter tat goodies, so I'm happy. Smile I tried out some new designs, and I'd post pics, but my line manager wasn't so good at taking the pictures - I think she only took about 20 all weekend, and most of those are blurry. Sad Methinks it might be time for a "real" line manager...

I did have fun, though, and can't wait to get back in the swing of things -- though I'm sure my lower back would say otherwise! Wink. I think I might start setting up in my neighborhood on the weekends just to get my name out there and to get some more practice; I felt a little rusty after a couple years off.

Anyway, just thought I'd share. Yay for face painting! Smile

Happy painting! Smile

p.s. make sure to check out my vent in the "where's the beef" section - I'd like some opinions on the behavior, and how I should have handled it.
