Changing website and FB pg name

Hi guys,

When I started out 3 years ago, I thought I would call myself Fabulous Faces by Jody Rife. I know that isn't original but at the time, I had no idea how vast the face painting world was or how common the name was.

I just want to be known as Face & Body Painting by Jody Rife or simply just my name, simply because everything cool is already being used.

My question is this. My FB is Fabulous faces by Jody Rife, I want that changed. I don't believe you are able to change the name of your business pg so I am thinking about completely making a new one. I have around 1,100 pg likes. I realize I would have to build that number back up and hope that people would like the pg again. would you risk this? Is it really a big deal. I just am curious of some opinions.

I also am going to redo my website this year but don't think that will be a big deal other than changing all of my banners and what not, that could get expensive.

I think you can do it...it's just a gradual process to get everyone to "move over." I'd keep your old FB page and just not post anything to it anymore, EXCEPT occasional reminders that you have moved, with a link to take people to the new page to like. Maybe start removing photo albums from the old page? Then You can watch your stats and when you aren't getting many visits anymore, you can shut down the old site. Are you changing your website URL? If not then that won't be a big deal to just change the design. But you can also pay a small fee to your web host to redirect your old site to your new one for a while. Good luck to you! Actually you can't, necessarily change your facebook name once. You have to submit the request to facebook, and they can refuse. I wanted to change my business page name (because both my business page and my personal timeline are the exact same name) and they would not allow me to.

Just post that you are changing and let your fans know your new page link. Lots of people do it all the time.

Thank you all. Shannon, you are right. Over the weekend I have snooped around a bit on the subject and the only thing you could change once was the user name that wasn't what I needed. I did find where you could submit and ask for a change but guess it is rare that they grant it. I may just do the move eventually.

i changed the name of my fan page once, no problem, only it still sometimes shows up as the old name and sometimes as the new name, but either name will get you there, I used to be facepainting by Nina, now I am fantasy faces by Nina

I changed mine a while ago (added Face Painting), not sure how I did it but it worked

It says I'm allowed to change the name once, if I have less than 200 likes.... Wonder why that is? I've got 269 likes, so I'm not allowed to change it. Only wanted to add: by Lisette Huinck....
