Paint recommendations please
Hi all, my daughter will be visiting NY soon and was wondering if any of you could give me some advice as to which paints she could bring me back to the UK?
I have a very large collection of Snazaroo but am unhappy with the outcomes of some of the colours, particularly the white, which fades and goes chalky quite quickly.
I was thinking maybe Tag pearls and split cakes but can anyone say which they think the best quality white is please? Also, what size and makes of brushes? Particularly for dots.
If anyone could recommend a good shop for her to get the supplies from too this would be great. She'll be stopping in Queens but obviously be visiting as much as she can in her time there.
Thanks in advance x

Re: Paint recommendations please
Dear Fionjt1:
I do not know about a storefront in NY.... could an order be shipped to wherever your daughter is staying? I am not paid to say this.... The FacePaintForumShop has competitive pricing, great shipping, well packaged to avoid damage, and the items are compacted together to save on shipping. (There is another shop I have purchased from in the past that seems to be addicted to those shipping peanuts, that take up more than half of the box.)
Having said that...
For Line Work:
Wolfe White
Wolfe Black
TAG 50g
If you have a limited budget/space... then go for the darkest colors, you can always lighten a color with white or glitter white, you cannot darken in without losing color saturation. I love all the TAG colors. You are smart to choose the Split cakes because then you get two colors for the price of one.
Out of the Base Blenders... TAG Neon Carnival is my go-to standby for rainbow butterflies. The three colors blend into each other to create a five color rainbow that is bright & vibrant. I make my own by buying a full 50g size of each of TAG Neon: Blue, Yellow & Magenta. I cut them into thirds and create 3 Carnival cakes.
Havana Sunset and Havana Sunset Pearl are a Base Blender I use quite a bit. Little girls point to Bubblegum because it has pink and purple and white.
Brushes:
Loew & Cornell 7000 C series.
These are my standard brushes that I gravitate towards for line work, dots, starbursts, flicks, swirls & scrolls.
Denise Cold from this Forum has pointed out an amazing brush from a store in the US called "Target". In their make up and beauty section of the store there is a brand of make up brushes and tools by Sonya Kashuk. Her eyeliner brush is a great small flower petal brush.
This is a very basic outline of things to purchase. If you ask 20 face painters this question, you will get 20 different answers.
Happy Painting!

Re: Paint recommendations please
Thanks for all that advice! I never gave it a thought to just order and have it shipped!
Oh I'm going to have fun choosing! In the UK were pretty much limited to Snaz if you're on a budget as its the only brand that wholesalers seem to stock. I'm so looking forward to getting my paws on some others and trying everything out. My youngest is getting fed up of me painting her lol!

Tag, Dfx,Wolfe, or Cameleon will change your face painting life. I recommend tag foremost for price. These do not blend as easily as Snaz but the colors are vibrant and have great stay power. I would consider ordering and having it shipped to where she is staying also. The shop here has the cheapest shipping by far. You can shop all the places online and one may be cheaper on one color and size and the other shop will be cheaper on something else so it all equals out. The facepaint forum shop is super fast and reliable and has great customer service.
I hope you enjoy your new paints, and make sure to grab a couple neon rainbows or carnival cakes!!! They have a real wow factor! I go through several a year.

Re: Paint recommendations please
the forum shop is great for sure!
I would add that try some paradise colors for base blending, the white, beach berry red, the mango, maybe a green, porto is beautiful
and as far as the tag cakes, I think fairyfloss is a must have,I also use pearl dream alot( see my avatar),for onestroke, I would recommend cold fusion, star gazer, and leaf yellow.
Loew cornell 700C is my favorite as well, and if you need flat brushes, the paradise 3/4 is nice
