Can you make up my mind for me?
Can you guys help me to make up my mind?
We got a GC for Great Wolf Lodge for Christmas. This time we got enough for food as well as the room. I am really struggling with whether or not to add the food package on to our reservation because I am cheap/frugal. We've only ever eaten there once and the food wasn't great, so every other time we've brought our own. The food package for a family of our size would be the equivalent to another night's stay. I like the idea of not having to pack our meals, and just going and relaxing, but the thought of spending that much money on food that isn't great to begin with makes me cringe. Thoughts?

Re: Can you make up my mind for me?
If it locks you into a time frame you have to eat meals by, personally I'd skip it as I hate being on the clock when I want to relax....stay an extra day--have a meal or two someplace you'd really enjoy & hobo the rest on your schedule. Just my preference...
Re: Can you make up my mind for me?
The last time we went to Great Wolf Lodge, the girls were small. I went with my lovely sister in law and their son.
The kids were on all different schedules for wake up times.
I packed cereal and collapsible bowls (MEC)
juice boxes
small cartons of almond milk (for cereal)
fruit
spoons
granola bars
nuts
When we woke up, breakfast was in the room.
The kids could eat fresh fruit whenever they wanted.
They snacked all day.
We would have dinner at the Lodge.
I did not pack food for every meal, just breakfast and day snacks.
The food was adequate at the Lodge. The girls were happy and that is what counted.

Re: Can you make up my mind for me?
Oh the prospect of not cooking or cleaning up after it, or packing and planning it???? Sounds like a winner to me. I hate that not only do I plan every inch of vaca, I also cook and clean and do laundry while we are there??? Wait that's right, I never get a vacation I am a mommy! Unfortunately those are corners we always cut too, just to save money. If only no could make my husband seethe expense of take out on vacation really isn't that much more than groceries and the value of my time. Sorry I was ranting....
Re: Can you make up my mind for me?
We do pretty much what Lisa said...lots of snacks for during the day. We try to bring granola, cereal, etc. Things our kids can just grab and go! I tell my hubby flat out I will NOT be spending my vaca doing the things I do at home lol. However, we don't vaca very often. We do dinner out but no fast food!

Thanks guys!
We put it to a vote since the kids often ask if we can eat in the restaurant while we're there, and we always say no. They decided they'd much rather go back again later in the year than eat in the restaurants.
since the meals we bring are super easy, it's not that big a deal for us. the kids were willing to help with the food prep (my 12 year old makes an AMAZING chicken penne dish) so that they could go back again - so it's a win- win for everyone
