Cherry bomb is not, really Empty Cherry bomb is not, really

Post by JennyNixe Fri Jan 18, 2013 2:08 am

I recently bought Paradise's Cherry Bomb Metallic Red. I had read that this color was the only true metallic red and that it was a beautiful color. To which I say, meh.

First of all, this paint works like all other Paradise paints, creamy and good coverage. It has the typical coconut beach smell. It has some sheen, but nowhere near as much as Fab shimmers. It cleans up easily. My real problem with this product is the color, which is sort of a browny, coppery red. It's nothing like any other Cherry Bomb shade in hair, makeup, or bike color. It's very muted, like dried robot blood.

Other than an Iron Man mask, I have no idea what you'd use this color for. Maybe something Southwestern? In any event, I think this is a very auxiliary color. Not a must-have.

I love Cherry Bomb.n It however is no way a red red and I see no copper brown in it either. Like many a great color in its place.

Cherry bomb

Here's a butterfly done with FAB princess shimmer blended into cherry bomb. You can't really see the pink, though. To me, it's very soft for line work. I hadn't thought to use it for a tiger, though -- my tigers tend to be Starblends or rainbows.

I use it for blood! It's perfect. But, it is *so* not bright red. I use it on my green zombie skulls as blood, though and I love it for that.

What is a good bright red? I dont like the DFX red because it is orangey and the snaz just isn't great with a brush. It does ok for sponging though. I just need a good red paint for angry bird and elmo cheek art.

I've heard wonderful things about fab rage too. I have tag red, better than dfx or wolfe for pure redness I think.

I will not give up my paradise red for anything. Not beach berry but the red. You cannot pry it out of my cold dead fingers.

Ooh, the red question again Smile. I used to look for a true metallic red, you know, spidey red but metallic. Tried DFX (which is pink), TAG (which is more red, but still a bit pink) and paradise cherry bomb (which I agree is a red/brown/coppery red). I gave up finding one.

Then for the regular red: The first DFX red I bought was orangey. The next one was a REALLY nice true red, and I have used that up now. Ordered a new DFX red, and it was orangey. Talked with DFX, showed them photo samples of the old and the new, and they said that it must have been labelled wrong. Got a new one, but it is still orangey Sad. I just got one from Cameleon, and it looks more red!! Very Happy. I might have found my red now!

But still no metallic red Wink

Fab Rage is my "go to" for Spidy & any Christmas paintings. Bought a Paradise Beach Berry & it's good, but I find Rage washes off easier & I paint a lot of little ones. I know the Beach Berry washes off w/a few washes, but like Wofe Black, I tend to minimize it's use on younger faces.

So concensus seems to be FAB rage.

I haven't seen many places that sell FAB..
Are there any good online sources that ship to Canada?

Or recomendations from my fellow Canucks?
