Update on the Eyes Wide Shut Gig
It was fantastic! []
I didn't get any pictures (boo!), but I did have a great time. I was a little leery at first (did I really want to go to some stranger's house to decorate him and his five friends for an "Eyes Wide Shut" party???), but I gave my husband the name, phone, and address of the place (in case I was kidnapped and murdered []) and off I went.
I got to the place, and it was Ah-mazing! A penthouse in the West Village. I did the client and his wife first (Tom Cruises mask, and then the lace mask - which turned out FABULOUSLY, I might add), and then waited around for about an hour for his (very late) friends to show up. I had to do much more simple designs on the last four, just to make sure they could leave for the surprise birthday party in time, but everyone said they loved it, they were very complimentary, offered to give me food and drink, and even helped me carry my kit to a cab.
On my way home, I called the husband to let him know that client wasn't a serial killer, and he let me know that he'd googled the guy, and apparently he was the founder and CEO of one of the major internet service companies, and his currently #70 on the Forbes List. No wonder he gave such a nice tip!
They said they were definitely going to keep me in mind for future events, and one of the guys is supposed to be calling me today to set up an appointment for several friends for tomorrow evening (at a holiday rate, of course). Why can't all my gigs be like this??? []

Re: Update on the Eyes Wide Shut Gig
Sounds like it went great! And congrats on the nice tip! Sounds like a potential repeat client!
$200 for two faces???
i think I like this new clientele!
So friends of Richie rich called yesterday after seeing Richie and wondered if I could come paint four of them tonight. My husband is working, and I went to my party yesterday, so I said yes. I get there, and it turns out there's only two of them, and they both want the same mask. I spend about 45 minutes painting them up all elaborate like, and am handed $200. I need more clients like these!
