Laundry tips?
I can't seem to be able to get wolf and/or dfx black off of anything. While I love painting with it, I feel guilty using it, practically guaranteeing that I'm going to ruin some kid's shirt. My towels and sponges look terrible, despite being clean. My costume, despite being extra careful has a few spots and an employee completely ruined hers by dropping a brush down her front. I've tried two different detergents, oxyclean, shout, and bleach but the black is still there. Am I the only one? Any laundry tips?
Re: Laundry tips?
My work khakis are totally ruined from paint; I hear it you let them soak it helps but once they've gone through the dryer there's no turning back. But I'm hoping someone had found a solution, since the less future clothes ruined the better!
Edit: Mine is from Tag.

Re: Laundry tips?
This is why I do not use Wolfe black in my working kit. I prefer not to be spoken ill of by parents of kids I paint.
And... it isn't just Wolfe. I have a poly/cotton yellow shirt that has a 10 year old Snaz black stain on the arm.

Re: Laundry tips?
Take a bar of Ivory soap and dampen it & rub it into both sides of the stain really well. Let it sit for awhile & launder as usual. It has gotten it out of my light colored aprons, table-cloths, etc. You may need to repeat).
Shannon, I am shocked!! As pristine as your sponges are, and the fact that YOU enlightened me to ivory soap bars, well...)

Re: Laundry tips?
Fels Naptha laundry soap... I have never found anything that works better.
When my son was a baby, I had to buy most of his clothes at yard sales because I was so poor. I bought a bar of Fels Naptha and it got every single spit up stain out... plus all the other little yucky stains, too... had to scrub a bit, but it worked. The clothes looked almost new again.
It gets all the face paint out of my clothes.

Hoe do you call it in Dutch/Vlaams? ;-)
Always nice to know!
Re: Laundry tips?
IF you catch the stain BEFORE you wash and dry it... yes, you can get them out. HOWEVER, if it goes through the laundry cycle... particularly the DRYER, the stain is set and it will take a miracle soap to get it out.
I've tried EVERYTHING to get the black out of my sleeves... the only thing that works is to spot clean everything BEFORE you put it through the washer/dryer. And that sometimes means hand scrubbing, soaking and re-washing by hand before thrpwing in the machine.

If you can get your hands on a bar of Fels Naptha, it gets out set/laundered and dried in the dryer stains...even face paint...(but that may depend on the fabric type).
If you can't find it, let me know...Santa will bring you one ...

Ox gall-the bile obtained from the gallbladder of a bovine animal. Okay. Well, I've already got the Fel's Naptha in my laundry supplies.

Re: Laundry tips?
Ronnie, you so sound like someone I could be best friends with. I like your heart. I too bought all of our clothes at the good will cuz I could never afford anything. Nothing has changed they have grown into great adults. I still am poor. I think that is just ok.
Re: Laundry tips?
I feel very welcome here, I am poor also. Creativity is what makes our lives good though and that is such a blessing. Especially now that I can't work anymore. I really want to become good at this to have some income. I think I like all of you!

Re: Laundry tips?
heck if I know. My mother in law gets down to mexico from time to time and brings back some soap. It's not in a box most of the time when we get it. But it's now they keep their whites white! and it works.
