Hey guys,

I'm wondering how you swipe your sponges. Do you lay it flat or on it's edge?

I lay it on it's edge for the most part, but I get spikes as I pounce for butterflies :S

I lay mine flat on the cake when loading rainbow/split cakes, then manipulate the shape of the sponge depending on which design I'm painting. For single colors I usually load just the tip.

Oh sorry, yeah I was referring to rainbow cakes. I just use the tip for single colours also.

I think I'm going to try laying it flat, that would probably solve my spike issue.

Thanks!

I lay it flat and then I purposely tip my sponge slightly on one edge (on the side of the sponge) and pick up the rainbow on one edge too....I find it's helpful when getting in the corners of the eyes for the butterflies..I use the flat bottom of the sponge for the actual wings and tip it on its side to get in corners and creases...seems to work, but I wasn't "taught" how to sponge...just kinda *wing it rabbit

I load the round side. I find it's easier to lay down the base that way because I control how much of the sponge comes in contact with the face at any given time.
I saw that in FABATV once. I think it was Christina Davidson or Lynne Jamieson. I can't remember for sure.
Loading the round side revolutionized my face painting immediately.

That's what it was~ Thanks rthling, I saw that on FABATV too and then did a mental data dump. I've been trying to figure it out ever since then, but since I'm an old fart my memory kept getting the better of me! I'm going to give that a go tonight!
