Re: Cameleon Paint
Since the change in wolfe I prefer the Cameleon black velvet... I used to adore my wolfe black, but lately it has become goo :-/
Re: Cameleon Paint
I found some at a local store and so inexpensive to get lots of colors I stopped myself from buying them all up (okay they were out of stock from Halloween) but I did get the last metal white and got to play with a whole board of colors in the store. The colors are pretty vibrant, Tag is still my choice for colors that pop though.
Re: Cameleon Paint
I use the Cameleon colorblock "Sunset" so much!!! Love this!
I have also the swan, I love it, but don't use it much.
And I have the matteo palet so the basic colors (white, black, ivory, two brown tones and red)..love that also!
But.. linework with the white.. it's hard... the result looks good, but working is not as easy.

Re: Cameleon Paint
Does anyone know if cameleon is good for linework? Have been told wolfe or diamond fx is best for black line work but haven't tried yet-

Re: Cameleon Paint
I've been using Chameleon more often now and really like it. For black line work the best color is velvet black, there are a couple of different shades of black that they offer.
Re: Cameleon Paint
Marshmellow (their spelling) pink is a great bright pink. I'd been using TAG Pearl Pink, but the Chameleon really pops it up a bit.

Re: Cameleon Paint
So far, I really like the banana yellow. It's one of the more opaque yellows I've tried. They also have a shimmery/metallic olive green. The name escapes me, but it's a gorgeous color.
Re: Cameleon Paint
My personal opinion is that all of the China wax paints are very similar, but vary from batch to batch: Wolfe, Fazmataz, Tag, DFX, Cameleon, Party Explosion, and others all come from the same factory. If you like one, you are probably going to like the others.
There are “grades” to the quality. But, that part of it all is a bit fuzzy. For instance, the people at Wolfe swear up and down there has been no change in years as to how the paint is made. But, I found that an older version of exactly the same brand and color just feels different than its newer version.
As a side note, Wolfe and Fazmataz buy their paint from that China factory, then base their operations out of the USA. So, you would - sort of - be supporting a USA company.
Tag, DFX and Cameleon buy it from that same factory, but the paint ships to their home countries, then to the USA.
If that USA issue is important to you, Mehron’s Paradise and Starblends are made here, as is Gary Cole’s Ruby Red.
