Cameleon Paint
I just noticed that the face paint forum shop is offering Cameleon paint. I have never heard of this brand and wanted to ask if anyone has any experience with it?
I was looking at some of the one stroke cakes they offer and i really like the color combo of some of them.
Any input would be awesome and if any of you do happen to have it would you be willing to post some swatches that would ROCK!

Re: Cameleon Paint
I don't have any swatches as such, but here's a couple of things I've doodled with some of the Cameleon Colorblocks.
The first is with "Roses", funnily enough:
The next is with "Naughty Fairy":
I also have "Jellyfish" and "Snowflake", both of which I love but don't seem to have photos showing the colours of, sorry!
I really, really like them. They're creamy in consistency but flow well coming off the brush, the colours have better separation than my Prisma split cake, and they're lasting well. Frankly, I want more of them but can't really indulge at the moment.
Hope that helps!

Re: Cameleon Paint
Glad it helped, and that you love the roses! That particular Colorblock is really beautiful, I highly recommend it. The Naughty Fairy doesn't show up as well on camera as in person. The darker colours have a mild sparkle to them - it's really unusual but I love it for slightly avant-garde and unusual butterflies and flowers. It's not as "girly" as most of the blocks I'd choose for that.
Which ones are you considering getting?
Oh, and to warn you...the light blue in Snowflake is very stainy. I still have a dolphin's tummy on my arm from last night. I've heard the full-block light blue stains a lot too, obviously as it'll be the same stuff. Not had any staining problems with my other Colorblocks.

Re: Cameleon Paint
For what it's worth, Lacey, I do think the Snowflake's worth it. It's a lovely combo - the silver really lifts it. The staining's gone from me now, and would probably have disappeared more quickly had I grabbed some baby oil to remove it with.
I'm currently painted up as a Naughty Fairy painted with....um....Naughty Fairy.

Ahh, it's not great, but since you asked (and it shows the colours), here you go:Lacey's Faces wrote:OHHH you get a pick of the fairy?? I would LOVE to see it
I also painted these roses with the same split cake, but using the colours the opposite way around:
The colours are really unusual, but I like a challenge and now I find I'm really loving the combination in Naughty Fairy.

Re: Cameleon Paint
Lovely! Just a little tip.... Naughty fairy seems (color combo's a bit the same as splitcake I used) also very usefull for a quick one stroke skull! It's very fast, and boys just love it!
(he's trying to look very 'skully' )

Re: Cameleon Paint
It's probably all personal CottonKandyClown, but I like them. Of course, I'm also a newbie so take the opinion for what it's worth. I do reckon though that if I can paint pretty pink and yellow one-stroke roses the very first time, when I've only been painting a month, they can't be all that bad, right?

Re: Cameleon Paint
I know a lot of people aren't crazy about Kryolan, but I love them. It's just personal preference.

Re: Cameleon Paint
I've never used Kryolan - how do you think it would compare, use- or texture-wise, to the brands I have? I have Snaz, Superstar/FAB, DFX and a little Paradise on top of the Cameleon.

Re: Cameleon Paint
FAB is creamy and soft like Kryolan. I'm not crazy about the Interferenz, but the regular colors are great. The interferenz can be layered or mixed with the basic colors. You have to lather them up a bit more with water to get a good amount on your sponge.

Lacey - late doing this, I know, but I finally remembered to swatch my Colorblocks for you properly!
From left to right: Roses, Snowflake, Naughty Fairy, Jellyfish.
Hope that helps.

Re: Cameleon Paint
Thanks for the info! I'll bear that in mind, and maybe try a couple of colours in future. Just ordered my first TAG too, so going to see how I like that.CottonKandyClown wrote:FAB is creamy and soft like Kryolan. I'm not crazy about the Interferenz, but the regular colors are great. Re: Cameleon Paint
I like this brand. The creaminess is nice, and with a little more water its pretty solid for line work. I don't care for it as a base on larger areas. Its too dry and not flexible enough. Also some colors stain on most skin types, like Robin Egg and Lime Green:| (they are gorgeous though)
There are two blacks -Strong Black and Black Velvet. I believe the Strong Black is darker.

Re: Cameleon Paint
Ricky, cameleon has 3 blacks actually: strong black, black velvet and gothic black metal.
Gothic is a shiny anthracite looking black, it's nice though...
The darkest black is the black velvet, that is just such a beautiful black. In the beginning I also assumed strong black would be the darkest, but when you see them used next to each other black velvet is sooooo much better!

Re: Cameleon Paint
I knew I had that backwards lol! Thanks for the correction and overall update on the third black out there. I couldn't remember which one I was so in love with,(Black Velvet) but this local distributor didn't have:( It's amazingly rich.
Do you find yourself reaching for that black or Wolfe? Assuming that's your go to for line work.
