Tan / Flesh tones - what to use
Hey guys,
I was wondering what you guys use for flesh tones?
The only ones I saw were Snaz and I was wondering if that gave good coverage even on darker skin?
It's mainly for use with cartoon characters like the skin on the powder puff girls or mario's face.
What do you guys use for this?

I don't know...I have a snaz tan but don't use much (2 ml size). But DFX actually sells a skin tone palette, if that helps at all. It's 6 different skin tone shades, 10g each.

I usually just use light pink or the tan/light brown... not really any need for flesh tones.

HMMM...Don't tell anyone I said this, but Wolfe does make a flesh tone palette. You can find it here. http://sillyfarm.com/wolfepalettes.html
The Wolfe brothers swear by it, but starting with complexion pink and dark brown, you could make one of your own. But I would go for the palette. Sometimes, we have to consider our own time in the value of just purchasing it complete.
Again, you didn't hear this from me. LOL

if you mix light yellow and pink together you get the perfect "apricot" color for skin for things like the Power Puff Girls.

Interesting this was brought up.
My friend is multi-racial and asked me to help her do an art piece. She wants to photograph herself made up as each individual race, very cool idea. I still have a very basic kit, and did okay with African, and German, but struggled with Japanese.
Any suggestions for Asian skin tones?

You can buy foundation shades in theatrical make-up.... They used to call them Lite Chinese, Japanese, etc. I've got numerous in Ben Nye.

Is that heavy, like the grease paint? And can you use the water based stuff over it, or shoud you stick to powders?
Re: Tan / Flesh tones - what to use
It's make-up - foundations. You can get it in oil-based creams, pancake, water-based ...

Page 16 has the water activated line... which you apply with water and a sponge. You can paint over top as usual.
You can also paint over top of oil-based once you powder it to set it.

If you haven't brought any products yet you can get a skin tone pallet from Diamond FX

I like the Diamond palette, except that I would like to be able to buy the colours separate. So now I have a light brown from Eulenspiegel and a dark from Diamond. Mix it with white, yellow, pink and purple depending on the colour I want.

I will also say that I swear by the Wolfe flesh tone palette... when I got it, I wasn't sure if I'd use it a lot.... but I use it a ton!!!! LOVE IT!
